Are you harming your skin when you wash your face?

🦠Our skin is a protective barrier. It keeps things from entering our bodies while also allowing things to exit. By things I mean microorganisms, microscopic particles, pollution and sweat, and the like. So if our skin is doing its job, why do we wash our face?
⛅️ At the end of the day, our skin has been exposed to all kinds of airborne grime, and may also be holding onto the makeup or sunscreen applied during the day. When our skin has dirt or grime upon it, we may clog our pores, cause inflammation, or even feed the microorganisms that are naturally present on our skin. It is important to not let all that ‘grime’ sit on our skin overnight.
😴 At night our skin purges. We may sweat while we sleep. That means in the morning there is ‘debris’ to wash away in order to have a clean canvas for the day.
💦 So yes, it is important to wash our face; it is a primer for healthy skin. It also creates the canvas to determine what might be happening with our skin, especially in the minutes or hours after washing.
💪 When we use a facial cleanser, it is designed for the ‘tail’ end of cleansing molecules to attach to the grime, and the ‘head’ end to disperse with water, washing away the cleanser and the grime molecules.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has publicly pushed back against a comment regarding her appearance.
Yesterday , she shared a screenshot of a direct message she received from a plastic surgeon: "Shouldn't we remove that spot on your nose?"
She promptly replied: "Um, no. I am happy with my body and really don't need a male plastic surgeon's opinion on it!"
She also sent warm thoughts to anyone who has to endure daily remarks about the "perfect imperfections we all carry around," she wrote.
Over the years, she has received countless messages scrutinizing her looks. Frederiksen noted:
"I’ve received comments many times—especially about ugly teeth and thinning hair. That I had an ugly 'wart' on my nose, along with unsolicited advice on how I could get Botox injected."
She does not judge what others choose to do with their appearance.
"Personally, I feel good in my own skin and body. Just the way it is when you're a woman approaching 50."
Even so, she admitted to being a bit "old-fashioned outraged" by the surgeon's message. That, however, was for a different reason:
"When people reach out to me (which they are more than welcome to do), I hope they use their airtime on something far more substantial than my nose."

I often talk about the ingredients I use in my natural skincare. Here are a few facts:
🇨🇦 99% of my ingredients are purchased from 🇨🇦Canadian suppliers (a few are sourced from my UK, AU and/or Asian/Indian suppliers as unavailable in Canada). 0% COME FROM AMAZON. (See Note 1)
🛒 0% of my ingredients come from a grocery store.
🧴99.99% of my ingredients are Cosmetic grade, and have full pedigree paperwork. *This matters, because food-grade oils and additives do NOT contain the same fatty-acid, vitamin, protein, mineral and other compound profiles, nor are they always skin-absorbent.*
🎯 100% of my products are designed to ACTively interact with your skin; designed with intention. Every ingredient selected for a purpose.
🤓 While my inventory database includes all kinds of specific information on each ingredient, I conducted an audit for ingredient country of origin on my Peace Rose 🌹 Facial lotion.
🌎 Those ingredients are sourced from Bulgaria, Canada, Malaysia, Morocco, Israel, Italy, Spain, China (yes, some plants are sourced specifically from Asian agriculture), and less than 5% from the USA.
🥼🧪🥽 While some of my lab equipment has in past originated from the USA, moving forward I will only purchase lab tools, supplies and equipment from Canadian, European and Asian suppliers.
Quality has always been a priority for me, and purchasing from suppliers who can provide and ensure pedigree, certification and efficacy of ingredients will continue.
