A trendy ingredient, impressive percentage or clinical-looking package doesn’t automatically make a product effective—or right for your skin.

There’s so much more to consider: the complete formula, stability, packaging, delivery system, evidence, your skin’s needs and how the product fits into the rest of your routine.

Brands know most people don’t have time to investigate all of that, so they rely heavily on buzzwords, hero ingredients and big promises to make the sale.

Yesterday I was having a conversation about iron and bioavailability, and it made me think about skincare. 🖤

We spend so much time talking about ingredients, but there’s a lot more to the story than simply whether an ingredient is listed on the label.

I thought it was an interesting concept and wanted to share it because it’s a good reminder that skincare is about more than just ingredients. Formulation matters too.
