What a special evening at the RMTBC AGM! đź’•
I’m incredibly honoured to have received the Annual Award of Excellence for Contribution to the Profession. This recognition means so much to me, and being able to celebrate it surrounded by wonderful colleagues, friends, mentors, and fellow members of the profession made the moment even more meaningful.
A special thank you to Gordon MacDonald (RMTBC Executive Director); Robyn Lancaster RMT (RMTBC Chair and fellow MG alumna); Annabel Danchuk RMT, fellow MG alumna, a great friend and team member; and Nikita Vizniak. Thank you for the laughs, support, leadership, and for being part of such a memorable evening!
Looking at these photos, I’m reminded that professional achievements are never really achieved alone. They’re shaped by the people we learn from, work alongside, laugh with, and grow with along the way.
Grateful to Registered Massage Therapists Association of British Columbia, my colleagues, friends, team, and everyone who has supported me throughout this journey and I am truly honoured. 🙏💙
Here’s to continuing to contribute, grow, and strengthen our profession together! ✨

Why Light Touch Does Not Mean Doing Nothing
Light touch can still be thoughtful, intentional and clinically informed.
After surgery, the goal is not always to work deeper. Timing, pressure, positioning, tissue response and each person’s recovery experience all matter.
Effective care is not measured by how much force is used. It is shaped by assessment, communication, consent and an understanding of what the body has experienced.
Gentle does not mean unskilled.
Have you received a massage since your breast or chest surgery? What helped you feel safe, supported and comfortable during the treatment?
Day 3 Recap: Understanding the Gaps in Care đź’ˇ
It was all about understanding the gaps in care — and how we can start creating bridges.
We explored how we can connect the medical system and community care, while also diving into Mindful Marketing and how good charting can support better communication and continuity of care.
Also Maya’s transformative story, reminding us why thoughtful, compassionate care matters. ♥
AHA Moments from Day 3:
✨ “I’m so excited to be here! I’ve been a massage therapist for 25 years, and I’ve always had a gentle, light touch. It’s really nice to have found my people.”
✨ “After yesterday, I had a patient come in specifically for breast massage. I was so calm… I just finished my course, and I was able to apply it immediately. This is what the course is all about!”
Learning the skills is one thing — being able to confidently put them into practice right away is where the real impact begins.
What was YOUR biggest AHA moment?
Where Gentle Touch Meets Clinical Skills ✨
On Day 2, we went deeper into gentle touch and clinical skills—and, most importantly, into learning how to truly feel what is happening in the body. 🤍
One reflection from the session really stayed with us:
“If you go too deep, you lose the feeling completely. I love this because you can really feel, because you can really feel what’s happening in the body.”
And another beautiful reaction summed it up perfectly:
“How good that is… it’s really good.”
Sometimes, less pressure allows us to notice more. Gentle touch can create space to listen to the body, respond with greater awareness, and connect clinical knowledge with a more sensitive approach to care.
Day 2 was a reminder that touch isn’t simply about how deep we go—it’s about how much we can truly feel and understand. 💕
