Welcome to the most relaxing experience in town. #RelaxHarder

School is back in session. How long before you're running on empty?
Teachers give everything. Every day, to everyone, all at once. The questions, the needs, the noise, the emotional load of an entire classroom of humans who are counting on you.
You deserve a room where nobody needs anything from you.
90 minutes of silence. No hands raised, no one calling your name, no one touching you or expecting a single thing. Just you, floating weightless in the dark, completely off the clock.
We see you, and we've got a discount with your name on it. Use code FloatSchool online to save $10 on your float, all year long.
You can't pour from an empty cup. Go refill. 💙

Relaxing is a skill. Most of us were never taught it, and a lot of us are frankly terrible at it.
But here's the thing: the more you practice, the better you get. The first float might feel restless. The second one gets quieter. By the third, you start to wonder how you ever lived without it.
Your nervous system is learning. You're teaching it that it's safe to unwind, safe to let go, safe to just be still for a while.
That's not nothing. That's actually a superpower. 🌊

Let's talk about boredom.
Not the kind we rush to fix with a screen or a schedule. The real kind. The sitting with nothing to do, staring at the ceiling kind.
That kind of boredom? It's actually doing something important.
It's where kids figure out who they are. Where imagination kicks in because it has no other choice. Where they discover what they actually like, what actually matters to them, what they want to do with an afternoon when nobody is telling them.
We've gotten really good at keeping kids busy. Overscheduled, overstimulated, and underwhelmed by anything that doesn't move fast enough.
Adults are now paying serious money for digital detox retreats just to remember what quiet feels like. What if we gave kids that gift before they forgot?
Some of the best stuff happens in the pause. In the nothing.
Float tanks are basically professional boredom. And it turns out, that's exactly what a lot of kids need. 🌊

Getting salty made me sweeter. I'm not even kidding.
I came into floating out of sheer curiosity. What I didn't expect was to come out of the tank with a little more patience, a little more empathy, and a lot less judgment.
Something about genuine stillness makes it easier to see the bigger picture. Other people's perspectives start to make more sense. You get slower to react and quicker to understand. The little things that used to set me off just... don't, as much.
I'm a nicer person because I float. If you don't believe me, ask my sister 😆

During a recent trip to Edmonton, I took a moment to pause, reflect, and float at Float House Edmonton. It was such a wonderful experience. The huge spacious rooms, seamless float tanks, and the deepest float solution I've ever experienced. Everything was deliciously dialed in. The space exudes calming energy, in part from the wall of growing plants. Whew. Absolutely terrific.
I was so glad to visit this float studio on my float-bucket list. Especially so, because they will be closing at the end of October. 😢 It's always sad when the world loses a quality float tank.
oGoFloat wants you to float while you're traveling, and we want to hear all about it. Our Float Around and Find Out promotion rewards your adventures with $5 off or even a free float when you get home. All the details at ogofloat.ca/floataround. 🌊
Have you met Lynnea? 💙
This remarkable young woman has faced more hardship than most ever will, and watching her thrive in the Oliver Ambassador Program has been one of our greatest honours as a sponsor.
Floating is one of the tools Lynnea uses to get clarity, set goals, and show up as her best self. We couldn't be prouder to support her on that journey.
In this snippet from her passion speech on September 3rd, she makes a pretty compelling case that everyone could use a little more colour 🎨 and sparkle ✨ in their lives. We couldn't agree more, kid.
Lynnea and her fellow candidates make their final presentations this Friday, September 18th, with the awards gala the following evening. We'd love to see you there cheering them on.
Tickets are available at the Venables Theatre website: www.venablestheatre.ca/

Being a teenager has never been easy. And it's pretty hard to show up authentically in the world when you're still figuring out who you are.
One of the most meaningful things floating has done for me personally is build self esteem and teach me to be a little kinder to myself. I wish I'd had that during those years when everything felt so loud and uncertain.
This month we're thinking about teens and the power of giving them dedicated space to just... be. To think. To get quiet enough to hear themselves.
We're also proud to be sponsoring a candidate in the Oliver Ambassador Program, an incredible initiative that encourages young people to engage with their communities, find their voice, and set goals worth chasing.
Float. Reflect. Grow. It's never too early to start. 💙

The couple who floats together... meet Float Milestones together. Float Club Members Shelann & Paul have joined the 50 Float Club! It's been such an honour to host you, I'm excited for the next 50.
They'll enjoy spending $50 gift cards to The Book Store and The Grooveyard on Main Street. We love shopping locally for our best friends. 😊

Gus is such a great dude with a smile that lights up a room. It's been so fun hosting his floats and getting to know him more through the Oliver Ambassador Program. Thanks for being our friend Gus. 💙
Now we'd like to introduce Gus Holmstrom sponsored by the Rotary Club of Oliver:
Gus established himself as a talented athlete early on, particularly in the sport of archery—a passion he shares with his father. His dedication led him to represent Team BC at the 2023 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) in Halifax, where he achieved an impressive 5th place overall. He continued this momentum into 2026, placing 7th overall in the men’s archery category at the BC Winter Games.
As he progressed through his secondary education, Gus became increasingly involved in community and business leadership. He served as the President of Marketing for Syilx Wedding Nt'xúla7xw, a youth venture developed through the Bears' Lair Dream Camps that integrates traditional Syilx values into modern wedding celebrations.
His commitment to his nation has been widely recognized. In June 2026, he was accepted into the Canadian Armed Forces Bold Eagle program, a unique initiative that combines traditional Indigenous culture and teachings with military training. That same month, he received the OIB community’s first-ever Citizenship Award, honoring his role as an exemplary student and a respectful ambassador for his people.
Currently, Gus is entering grade 11 at Southern Okanagan Secondary School. He remains an active candidate for the 2026 Oliver Ambassador Program, through which he represents both the OIB and the town of Oliver. His community involvement is extensive; notably, he co-emceed the 2026 OIB graduation ceremonies, where he helped guide and celebrate the achievements of local graduates.
Beyond his formal leadership roles, Gus is a creative force as a member of the band The Skeleton Bears. Whether through his athletic pursuits, his advocacy for Indigenous culture, or his service to the community, Gus continues to build a legacy of leadership and cultural pride. This wickedly talented young lady is as impressive as they come. She's sweet and strong, empathetic, and inspiring. Lynnea is already making big waves in this world. She will accomplish everything she sets her sights on, especially with floating to help her along the way.
A Float Club Member for almost 5 years already, we were so pumped to sponsor her in the Oliver Ambassador Program.
Join us on Sept 18 for their Final Presentation night, or on Sept 19 for the Awards Gala.
Next we have Candidate Lynnea Holmstrom, sponsored by oGo Float:
Lynnea Holmstrom is an accomplished young Indigenous artist, athlete, and community leader from the Osoyoos Indian Band in British Columbia. Her journey is defined by a deep commitment to her Syilx Okanagan culture, a passion for creative expression, and a drive for excellence in both sports and civic life. From a young age, Lynnea demonstrated a profound aptitude for the arts. During a challenging period involving years of intensive care, Lynnea turned to art therapy as a vital form of self-expression, transforming difficult emotions into creative works. Her artistic skill has earned her significant recognition and her work has been showcased in student exhibits, at the Government of Victoria on Indigenous Day, and most recently, at the Osoyoos Art Gallery in 2026. Today, she focuses primarily on acrylic painting and digital art, with themes centered on conservation and her cultural heritage.
Lynnea’s dedication to her heritage and athleticism is clearly reflected in her recent achievements. Prior to her success at the BC Summer Games, she completed a challenging 20-kilometre kayak journey across Osoyoos Lake to the U.S. border to honour her rights under the Jay Treaty. She participated in the 25th Annual July 4th sukʷnaqin Border Crossing Canoe Paddle to celebrate traditional boundary-crossing rights.
Building on this momentum, she competed for Zone 2 in the 2026 BC Summer Games where she secured four silver medals in individual and team Canoe/Kayak events.
As Lynnea prepares to enter grade 10 at Southern Okanagan Secondary School, she remains a prominent figure in her community. She is an active candidate for the 2026 Oliver Ambassador Program, sponsored by oGo Float. In this role, she has demonstrated exemplary leadership, serving as an MC for the Osoyoos Indian Band’s graduation ceremonies and receiving the band’s first-ever Citizenship Award for her dignified representation of her community. Beyond her current successes, Lynnea is involved in modeling and public performance, having worked with figures such as Ashley Callingbull and designer Hilamkas Pam Baker. She continues to pursue ambitious goals, including aspirations to volunteer and model for the 2026 Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week. Photo credit: Jeremy Cook
