Here's the story on the back of the card:
On October 10, 2024, our beloved Bishop’s wife called to tell us about a show she was sure we’d want to see. We are blessed to live on the edge of town with the Peace River hills in our backyard, so my husband and I scrambled up to the “first balcony” behind our house to watch the heavens perform a once-in-a-universe live improv work of art. We felt like we were the only ones in the theatre except for the trees and forest creatures.
It is a challenge to convey the miraculous beauty of the Aurora borealis with a single photograph, because it is the movement that is most intriguing… the morphing of colours and shapes with bursts of brightness here…and there…sky spirits dancing from one part of the stage to another and back again in different costumes. Sometimes I’ll see a circle dance or angel wings or a bird. My husband imagines being a little mouse looking up into the living room drapes being blown about.
I was raised on country dances, and I have fond memories of people waltzing, jiving, square dancing, line dancing, bird dancing… my cousin, Hazel, whirling me around the dance floor doing the polka with such joy and fun it left us breathless and laughing with delight.
The northern lights, on this night of nights, beckoned me into a Peace Country dance.
The music was silent, my breathing deep, and my soul romanced.

If you are anywhere near GRANDE PRAIRIE this weekend (June 7-8), you have the opportunity to meet a brilliantly talented artist from Yellowknife - Robbie Craig! Robbie Craig's Northern Projects.
I have been honoured to collaborate with Robbie to create seven Dona Bona Cards featuring his images. The best seller is "Little Vixen and the Big Moon," and our newest Robbie Craig card, "Beginnings" features one of my favourite flowers - Fireweed - the boreal flower of hope.
Robbie will be at the Grant Berg Gallery (9909 102 St Unit 102, Grande Prairie, AB T8V 2V4) June 7 and 8 (10am-6pm each day).
Robbie will have everything from original paintings to dish towels and fridge magnets! ...and puzzles, and 2026 calendars, and holiday ornaments...and many more art cards!

If you've never been to the Grant Berg Gallery...well! 'Tis a most inspiring place to enter. I find myself wandering with wonder and gratitude for our beloved Canadian artists - each with their own unique style of portraying the beauty of the north.

May the road NOT rise up to meet you if your boot slips on the ice!
I designed this card with the loverly Irish blessing on the inside, and then composed a Canadian Blessing for the back. It's still full-on winter here in Peace River on this fine St. Patty's Day!
TRADITIONAL GAELIC BLESSING:
May the road
rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields,
and until we meet again,
may God hold you
in the palm of His hand.
CANADIAN BLESSING:
May the road NOT rise up to meet you
if your boot slips on the ice.
May the wind be always at your back,
especially when it’s -20℃.
May the sun shine warm upon your face
to thaw your frozen cheeks.
May the moose and deer safely graze
and look both ways before crossing the road.
And until we meet again,
may God hold you
in the palm of His mitten.
