Greetings from London! 🇬🇧 I’m at the ESCRS Congress, learning from colleagues and exploring advances in cataract and refractive surgery.

Continuing to learn is part of how I care for my patients. I’m here to evaluate new technology and refine the techniques I use, always with safety and each patient’s needs at the centre of the decision.

A special evening celebrating 150 years of McGill Ophthalmology, which also happened to mark 10 years since my residency graduation.
Looking back, I realize that residency wasn’t just about learning ophthalmology or mastering surgical techniques.
More importantly, it taught us how to keep learning, how to persevere through challenges, and how to continue growing as surgeons and physicians long after training ends.
Every doctor faces difficult cases, setbacks, and moments of uncertainty. The greatest lesson from training is developing the resilience and curiosity to keep moving forward and striving to be better for our patients.
It was wonderful to celebrate this milestone with mentors, colleagues, and friends who have travelled the same path and shared many of the same challenges and triumphs along the way.
Grateful for the journey, the friendships, and the opportunity to be part of a remarkable legacy. ❤️

Devenir ophtalmologiste demande des années de dévouement, d’études et de travail acharné. Cependant, j’ai réalisé que la plupart de ce que je fais aujourd’hui dans ma pratique, je l’ai appris après l’obtention de mon diplôme. 🎓👁️

Mes années de formation ont jeté les bases et allumé l’étincelle d’un apprentissage continu tout au long de ma vie. Chaque patient, chaque cas chirurgical, chaque complication et même chaque erreur représente une opportunité de progresser. 💡🔬

Contrairement à certains de mes collègues, je n’ai pas bénéficié de la stabilité d’un poste public permanent (PEM au Québec). Mais ce qui semblait être un défi s’est transformé en bénédiction. 🙌 Cela m’a poussé à maîtriser de nouvelles techniques, à élargir mon expertise et à offrir des soins de premier ordre à mes patients, tout en apprenant à gérer une pratique florissante. 💼🏥

Le chemin de la croissance ne s’arrête jamais. Je continuerai à apprendre, à évoluer et à m’efforcer d’être le meilleur possible, pour moi-même et pour mes patients. 💪👓

Becoming an ophthalmologist takes years of dedication, study, and hard work. However, I’ve realized that most of what I do today in my practice, I’ve learned AFTER graduation. 🎓👁️

My years of training laid the foundation and sparked a lifelong journey of learning. Every patient, every surgical case, every complication, and even every mistake is an opportunity to grow. 💡🔬

Unlike many colleagues, I haven’t had the stability of a permanent public position (PEM in Quebec). But what seemed like a challenge has turned into a blessing. 🙌 It has pushed me to master new techniques, expand my expertise, and provide top-tier care to my patients—all while learning to run a thriving practice. 💼🏥

The journey of growth never stops. I will keep learning, evolving, and striving to be the best I can be—for myself and for my patients. 💪👓
