Just when I thought our summer market season was finished… we’ve been invited to The Cozy Fox Annual Fall Market in Selkirk on Saturday, September 19th.

And the timing is actually rather perfect. 🍂

Mrs Bowes Bubbles will be bringing along our everyday favourites, but this will also be your chance to get an early start on the liquid soaps we’ve been quietly making for fall, winter and the holiday season.

Our seasonal bars are made in small batches, and once they begin selling, some won’t be made again until next year. So if you like to tuck away a few beautiful soaps for autumn, Christmas guests, stocking stuffers or gift baskets, this is a good opportunity to shop early while the selection is still at its best.

I’ll also have some seasonal soaps bundled together for the market, making it a little easier—and better value—to choose several at once.

Blackberry Balsam is our darker, more atmospheric seasonal foaming soap — ripe blackberry softened by balsam and evergreen, with earthy depth underneath and just a touch of citrus to keep it fresh.

It is not a sweet berry soap. The blackberry opens rich and juicy, then settles into cool forest notes and a warm, grounded finish. The result feels more like a winter fragrance than a typical fruit scent.

And like our other foaming soaps, it is made as a true liquid soap from saponified plant oils, not a synthetic detergent wash. The foam is rich, the rinse is clean, and the difference in feel is noticeable from the first wash.

Introducing Cedar Grove — a seasonal foaming hand soap created for those who love something fresh, elegant, and a little unexpected for the colder months.

With notes of bright bergamot, orange peel, warm cedarwood, soft spice, and a subtle fruit undertone, Cedar Grove feels clean and uplifting, while still carrying the depth and coziness of the season. It’s woodsy, citrusy, refined, and beautifully layered.

What makes this one different is that Cedar Grove is a true liquid soap, traditionally made from saponified plant oils — not a synthetic detergent hand wash. That means the texture, the foam, and the feel on your hands are different. The foam is rich and luxurious, and your hands feel truly cleansed afterward in a way that’s hard to explain until you use it yourself.

If you’ve only used typical commercial hand soaps, you’ll notice the difference. Real soap feels like soap. It lathers beautifully, rinses cleanly, and brings a more traditional, elevated hand-washing experience to the sink.

It’s back for the season.

Spiced Winter Cider returns as a limited holiday release, made in small batches and available only while this seasonal batch lasts. This is a true liquid soap, made from saponified oils and carefully diluted to create a rich, true soap, luxurious foam rather than a detergent-style wash.

Warm apple, soft cinnamon and clove give it the familiar comfort of winter without becoming overly sweet. The dense, creamy lather feels substantial in the hands and rinses away cleanly.

For the fall season and winter holidays, Spiced Winter Cider is now offered in a generous 350 mL bottle.

Pomegranate soaps have long had a place in beautiful bath collections because the fruit can be taken in so many directions — bright and juicy, dark and woody, soft and perfumed. Some of the great fragrance and soap houses, including Jo Malone and Santa Maria Novella, have shown how sophisticated pomegranate can feel when it is treated as more than a simple fruit note.

That was the inspiration behind Pomegranate Embers.

We did not want a classic Christmas soap. No candy-cane stripes, no heavy spice, no obvious “holiday” fragrance. Instead, we built something richer and more unexpected: pomegranate and cranberry at the opening, softened with floral woods, then grounded with amyris, benzoin and a touch of patchouli for warmth and depth.

The bar itself is deliberately pale, with only a whisper of soft rose clay movement. It feels quiet and elegant on the outside, while the fragrance underneath is much more complex.

That is what makes it work so well for the holidays. It feels festive without being predictable, luxurious without being fussy, and seasonal without being limited to December.

Not your classic Christmas bar

Turmeric soaps have become incredibly popular. Turmeric has a long history in beauty and bathing traditions, it gives soap that beautiful golden warmth, and it is an ingredient customers recognize immediately.

But because turmeric bars are now everywhere, we wanted ours to feel noticeably different.

Turmeric & Chamomile was formulated as a richer, more complete bar. Turmeric is paired with chamomile, coconut milk, honey, colloidal oatmeal and kaolin clay, with shea and kokum butters helping create a creamy, substantial soap with a softer, more luxurious feel in the hand.

The lather is an important part of this bar. We wanted it to feel dense, creamy and generous rather than thin or fleeting — the kind of lather that makes the soap feel indulgent every time you use it.

The fragrance was approached with the same care. Instead of giving it the obvious bright citrus or strongly herbal profile often found in botanical soaps, we built something warmer and more layered, with soft woods, gentle botanical notes and a grounded dry-down. It has depth, but it is still calm and easy to live with.

The result is a cream-and-gold bar that feels substantial, smells sophisticated and turns an everyday wash into something more considered.

Prairie Winds is inspired by prairie winters — cold air, open skies, evergreens in the distance, and that unmistakable feeling of the holiday season — but it was never meant to be an average Christmas bar.

For this new line, we’ve been taking inspiration from some of the best traditional soap houses: richer formulations, more sophisticated fragrance structures, and bars that feel considered from the first impression to the last use.

Prairie Winds reflects that direction. The fragrance is cool and fresh at first, then settles into softer woods and warm resins, giving it a more complex, grounded character. The creamy bar and indigo movement give it a polished, almost windswept look that feels right at home in a beautiful bathroom.

This is the kind of winter soap we want to make now — substantial, luxurious, distinctive, and made to feel special every time you pick it up.

We’ve been spending a lot of time formulating our new line of soaps, and one thing we keep coming back to is this: we don’t want to make the expected bar.

We’re changing the way we formulate and present our soaps. We’ve been looking closely at some of the established premium soap houses and what makes their bars feel different — more layered fragrance, more restraint, better balance, and a stronger sense of identity. That is the direction we’re moving in with Mrs Bowes Bubbles.

Prairie Winds is a good example. When you think of a winter or holiday soap, it’s easy to reach for candy-cane stripes, bright peppermint, or a straightforward Christmas-tree scent. We wanted to move away from that.

We wanted this bar to be seriously good — not simply pretty for the holidays, but a beautifully formulated soap with a scent you’d genuinely want to use all winter.

Prairie Winds opens with a layered profile of cool peppermint and fir, then settles into softer woods and warm resins that give the fragrance more depth and polish. The creamy soap is finished with a windswept indigo swirl, inspired by cold prairie skies.

It still feels unmistakably winter, but it isn’t an average holiday bar. This is the kind of soap you leave in the guest bathroom and hear, “Where did you get that soap?”

That is where we’re taking this new line: larger, more substantial bars, more considered formulations, more sophisticated scent profiles, and soaps with the kind of presence you expect from premium soap houses — while still being distinctly ours.
