Crazy to think it’s already been a year since I opened my latest studio…

I’ve already outgrown my space four times, it all started with me taking a chance and a small setup at home. It hasn’t always been easy, but taking that first step changed everything.

Don’t let all your hard prep go to waste by flooding the cuticle. 👀

Flooded the cuticle? Don’t panic.

✨ Use a clean, flat brush to wipe the gel away from the skin before curing, the sooner, the better. Once it’s cured, removing flooded product is much more difficult and can compromise adhesion, leading to premature lifting.

✨ If the flooding is significant, it’s often best to remove that layer completely and reapply it rather than trying to salvage it.

A clean gel polish application starts with control, not more product.

✨ Apply thin, even layers.
✨ Keep the finger pointed slightly downward so gravity helps keep the gel away from the cuticle.
✨ Use a small amount of product and keep your brush flat to the nail.
✨ Gently push the gel toward the cuticle instead of placing it directly against the skin.
✨ If needed, switch to a fine detail brush to get closer to the cuticle with more precision without flooding.

These small adjustments will give you cleaner cuticle lines, a more professional finish, and help reduce lifting.

❌ Stop making it hard to book. Your booking link, location, pricing, and contact info should be easy to find.

❌ Stop waiting until you’re “good enough.” Clients value professionalism, consistency, and a great experience more than perfection.

❌ Stop ignoring calls and texts. Not everyone books online. Some of your best clients may prefer to call or message.

❌ Stop only working 9–5. If possible, offer at least one evening or weekend option for clients who work during the day.

❌ Stop relying only on social media. Use multiple ways to market yourself—social media, referrals, Google reviews, local partnerships, flyers, or community groups.

❌ Stop trying to appeal to everyone. The more specific you are about who you help and what you specialize in, the easier it is for the right clients to choose you.

✨ Remember: You don’t need thousands of followers to build a full clientele. You need a clear plan, consistency, and the discipline to keep showing up.

Every beauty business has a story that started long before the “after” photos. Before the beautiful studios and fancy shops, there are always clients who take a chance on a beginner tech, a home based startup, a small business, they recommend you to a friend, rebook their next appointment, and quietly help that dream grow.

We often celebrate the aftermath, but the real transformation is only made possible by the people who believe in us along the way.
