Hey y’all it’s Meiya here! Lacy let me know people have been wondering how I’m doing so we both thought it would be a good idea for me to post an update here 😄❤️

Some of you may have seen/read on my facebook or instagram that I have officially retired from hair styling. As much as I miss it I’ve had to accept that I won’t be going back to doing hair. I have a lot of physical limitations now and have joined the permanently disabled club.

As for my health, I’m doing pretty good all things considered! The radiation treatments I had back in December worked to kill some of the cancer and shrink the tumours. I’ve also been started on new medication to control my cancer and keep it from growing/spreading. While I’ll never be cancer free I can still live a long full life and that’s exactly what I plan on doing! 🙌🏻

I ended up choosing to have spinal surgery to try to improve my mobility and reduce my pain. It’s now been 8 weeks since my surgery and it went as well as it possibly could! I’m healed up enough to start working on rebuilding my strength 💪🏻 I can’t wait til I can go for a walk in the woods again!!🤞🏻

You never know what life is gonna throw at ya so you gotta enjoy every day as best you can!

Bittersweet News!

After careful consideration, I've made the difficult decision to leave 20 Main Street, effective March 1st. This past year has been a rollercoaster, and I've come to realize that I need to prioritize my family.

Meiya's departure from the studio was a significant factor in my decision. We shared an incredible journey, and without them, I couldn't imagine continuing at Elegance on Main.

After thoughtful discussions with my husband, I've decided to take the leap and open my hair studio in my home! This has always been a dream of mine, and although it's happening sooner than expected, I'm thrilled to start this new chapter.

I'm grateful for everyone who's been part of the Elegance on Main journey. Your support means the world! However, I know this decision is right for me and my family.

Important note: All February appointments will continue as scheduled at my current studio on 20 Main Street. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

I (Meiya) am writing again to share some more news with all of you. Due to my health I have been forced to make the very difficult decision to leave Elegance on Main. This is not something I want to do as working at Elegance and with Lacy has been one of the best experiences of my life and certainly of my career. Lace you have helped me grow so much both as a stylist and a person, I’m going to miss working with you more than I can say. I have also fallen in love with Hantsport, I’ve felt so welcomed by the lovely people and community. I wish I could be announcing my return instead but life (and cancer) has other plans. I’m hoping to build a salon in my house in Kentville over the next couple months but that will depend on what my future treatment plan is (which I frustratingly still do not know). I already miss everyone and Elegance so much.

Important Update from Elegance Studio

As many of you know, our beloved Meiya has shared the difficult news of their cancer diagnosis. My heart goes out to Meiya during this challenging time.

As a result, Meiya will be taking a temporary leave from the studio. I want to assure you that Meiya's health and well-being is a top priority.

In terms of the studio's operations, I want to clarify a few things. As owner and solo operator, I regret that I won't be able to accommodate new clients at this time. However, I do have limited availability for past clients who I've had the pleasure of working with before.

I also want to emphasize that Meiya's chair will remain empty during their absence. I will NOT be filling their position or taking on their clients. Meiya's talent, expertise, and love are irreplaceable, and I look forward to their return.

I'm writing to share some difficult news with you. My cancer has returned and I'll be undergoing treatment in the coming weeks/months. Unfortunately, this means I won't be able to keep your booked hair appointments or accept any new bookings for the foreseeable future.

I'm heartbroken to have to step away from the studio, as working with all of you has brought me so much joy. However, my health must be my top priority right now. I appreciate your understanding, support and kindness during this challenging time while I process this devastating news and once again get ready to FIGHT!!

Important Update for Flu and Cold Season

Dear valued clients,

As we head into the colder months, I want to take a moment to prioritize the health and safety of everyone at our studio. With immune-compromised loved ones at home, I kindly request that you stay home and reschedule your appointment if you're not feeling well.

To help minimize the spread of illness, we've provided hand sanitizer and masks at the studio for your use. Please take advantage of these precautions if you're unsure about your health.

Additionally, please note the following:

- In the event of school closures due to snowy weather, I'll reach out to reschedule your booked appointments as I'll be home with my children.
- If I or one of my family members falls ill, I'll personally message you to reschedule your appointment. My little ones want Mama when they’re unwell.
