A NOTE FROM OUR FOUNDER:

When I decided to create Adisa May, I was in the midst of a spiritual awakening and massive vibrational shift. Botanicals like lavender and crystals like amethyst supported me during what felt like a very chaotic period.

I would often have lavender essential oil in my diffuser while I would catch myself staring deeply into my amethyst clusters sitting on my desk. Then there it was… our colour will be deep purple and our logo will be a gold lavender flower.

Purple is the colour of royalty and spirituality. It represents elegance, luxury, mystery and higher consciousness. Purple also represents the crown and third eye energy center. Together, these centers represent heightened intuition, universal consciousness and spiritual awakening.

I wanted this product line to be deeper than just high-performance skincare. I wanted it to touch people’s hearts and spirits.

I wanted them to have the opportunity to experience the beautiful flow of energy that emanates from every purple packaged botanical-filled bottle and jar. This past March, it was a dream come true to launch’s curated selection of crystal bracelets like amethyst as ritual accessories.

The line truly feels complete now.

You may be wondering what a skincare brand is doing sourcing amethyst bracelets as ritual accessories.

But we see the skin as an interconnected system of mind, body and spirit.

You see at the quantum level, nothing is solid. Rather, everything is waves, energy fields and probabilities. The question of whether “everything is energy” is not a matter of woo-woo talk, it’s quantum physics. The only question remains then is whether you were aware of your own energy and the energetic signature your emanating into your environment.

Crystals are thought to synchronize and balance one’s energy field through a concept called entrainment. The internal lattice of crystals create a repeating pattern of atomic movement that remains steady over time. This coherent energetic signature is thought to interact with the human energy field harmonizing and balancing one’s energy.

When I was in my mid to late 20s I fell into the clean skincare craze. I was using naturally derived lotions, creams and serums that had all the things the skincare industry raves about: hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and vitamin C to name a few.

By the time I entered my 30s my skin was chronically dry, reactive, red and stinging. My skin’s lipid layer was depleted and my skin barrier was weak.

When I started cosmetic formulation seriously, I realized how little nutrients were actually in your standard cream and lotions and I returned back to what I intuitively knew and had been using on my hair and skin before my clean skincare craze: butters, oils, waxes, plant extracts and more recently, some select oil-soluble actives.

Oil-based natural ingredients are concentrated, pure and full of the nutrients need to build collagen, elastin, and ceramides so that your skin remains firm, dewy, and plump.

And while your skin absolutely needs hydration in the form of water soluble ingredients, you can easily get water-based hydration through elixirs and mists, that aren’t loaded with emulsifiers, fillers and additives that can disrupt your skin’s barrier!

Ever put a lotion or cream on your face, only to feel like you need to apply more a few hours later?

Your standard lotions and creams could be wreaking havoc on your skin barrier and you may not even know it.

Get this - your standard lotions and creams contain emulsifiers, preservatives, additives, and the first ingredient: water, which generally makes upward of 80% of the formula.

Emulsifiers can accumulate in your skin barrier, and when reactivated with water, they bind to your skin’s own natural lipids, where they are washed away. This can create a vicious cycle where you continuously apply more lotion or cream so your skin can feel moisturized.
