This new client of mine came from a lash tech who told her not to wash her extensions as it will "cause bad retention". These lashes were FILTHY.

The amount of yellow build up was absolutely insane. And of course gave the illusion that her retention was better than it actually was. By the time I cleaned them off and separated the extensions that were completely stuck together with gunk she actually needed a full set.

No matter what ANY tech tells you, you need to wash your lashes. At bare minimum every other day. This right here is how you get blepharitis. And bleph isnt something you want to mess around with. It can cause endless eye infections, rashes on your eyelid and can even cause you to develop an allergy due to your eyelid skin being irritated and exposed to glue fumes.

Please wash your extensions. With a LASH APPROVED LASH SHAMPOO ONLY. And please understand that if you choose a water based lash shampoo it expires after 3 months. My studio exclusively reccomends whipped lash wash.

Crazy how time flies by and how vastly my skills have improved. I cant thank everyone who let me learn on them enough! I truly wouldn't be who I am today had I not had so many amazing women willing to let me perfect my craft on them.

🍂 Its that time of year again!

Every spring and autumn our bodies go through a change. As the weather changes and becomes cooler or warmer our body signals to begin shedding our hair (lashes included) at a faster rate in order to prepare itself for the change in temperature.

The bad;
Absolutely nothing can prevent seasonal shed. Its a completely natural bodily cycle that will occur twice a year no matter what.
Instead of the regular 2-5 lashes we loose a day that number can often time double. Causing your extensions to look a bit less full a bit faster.
This also means the hair on your head will shed faster as well. Do not panic! It is only temporary.

The good;
I absolutely never upcharge or be fussy during shed season as I know there is nothing we can do about it other than book regular infills, be extra gentle with your extensions and power through it together. I simply ask for honest communication and that you be sure to book the amount of time thay you require to be back at 100% coverage. It is a slippery slope to come in and not be able to get a full fill. If you choose to do this you will eventually need a full set and will be charged accordingly.
A healthy shed cycle means healthy hair and lashes. I realize this may not be ideal but its never a bad things to have healthy properly functioning hair growth.
I do offer mini fills and touch up appointments. So if you have trips or events coming up please be sure to book a mini or touch up fill to ensure your lashes look how you want them too for important events.
This is not forever! 6-8 weeks at the absolute max and then we are both free again! At the end of the day we just have to do what we can to get through the season change as a team.

Things that can exacerbate seasonal shed;
Wearing oily makeup
Skin care products that are oil based
Exposing your extensions to any form of moisture too soon after application. This includes showers, baths, steam from a pot or oven, humidity, steam from the sink doing dishes... Etc. Long story short NO WATER FOR AT LEAST THE FIRST 24 HOURS. No exceptions.
Touching your extensions with your bare hands. Our hands are often dirty and covered in oil which will cause faster fall out.
Over brushing or over washing your extensions. The less you handle your extensions the better off the will be.
Putting any sort of makeup over your extensions. If you need a fill book a fill. If you come in with mascara or press on glue on your extensions you will require a full removal and 48 hours to allow your natural lashes to detox and get the film or glue left behind 100% off.
New or increased medication
Hormonal changes
PREGNANCY this is one alot of people do not realize
Stress
If you are taking any kind of hair growth booster such as biotin, prenatals, or medication that is known to speed up hair growth also speeds up shed. You cant have one without the other
