Retro Earth

As I sell my products throughout the summer, I like to remind everyone that Retro Earth products are made without synthetic preservatives. That's one of the things that makes them different. I want ingredients your skin recognizes, not unnecessary chemicals.

Because some of my products are tallow-based and made with fresh, natural ingredients, they are sensitive to heat. Just like you wouldn't leave butter in a hot vehicle overnight and expect it to be fine the next day, the same applies to my creams and balms. Heat can cause them to melt, separate, leak, and, over time, spoil.

I make my products in small batches within the month before they're sold to ensure they're as fresh as possible. I've also stopped selling through retail stores because I can't control how warm products get once they're on the shelf. Unfortunately, I learned this the hard way after hearing that one jar of eczema cream had gone bad. I did replace her bottle free of charge.

Most of my products have a shelf life of about 6-9 months when stored in a cool, dry place. Refrigeration can extend that to around a year for many of them. Or years if kept in the freezer. If you're ordering from me, I prefer to ship directly to you or have you pick up from me so I know exactly what you're receiving and can stand behind the quality.

Pro tip: I've had a tension headache for the past few days. I used magnesium spray on the back of my neck and within minutes my headache was gone.

Something to be mindful of this spring/summer when picking sage 🌿

There are different types, what many call “female sage” (salvia) and “male sage” (artemisia). When you harvest certain varieties before they go to seed, you can stop them from reproducing and damage that patch over time.

Pick with care. Leave some to seed. Take only what you need and leave to***co to honor what was given to you 💜

Askiy Nîpîy - Water of the Earth

I started using tallow face cream about 2 1/2 years ago, because I wanted real ingredients on my skin, I was sick of the amount of chemicals we are bombarded with on a daily basis, and honestly, it worked. My skin had never felt better.

But during the cold winter months, between the furnace, vehicle heat, and dry air, it started to feel like the tallow was just sitting on my skin while it was still dry underneath.

I asked my teenage daughter what she was using on her skin, cause it wasn't getting flaky and she mentioned hyaluronic acid.

At first it sounded like something I wouldn’t want anywhere near my chemical-free lifestyle… but I looked into it anyway and learned it can be made from fermented fruits and plants.

Our skin isn’t just made up of oil (like sebum, which tallow closely mimics), it’s made up of water, and winter causes dehydration.

So I created Askiy Nîpîy (Water of the Earth) using natural hyaluronic acid & aloe Vera. I asked a few close friends and coworkers to give it a go, and we all loved it. So I want to share this with you as well.
