Treating the correlation between mental health and chronic pain.

Alisha is a licensed acupuncturist in Calgary, Alberta, and a graduate of the Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. She is passionate about helping clients uncover the root cause of illness, recognizing that even when people share similar symptoms, the underlying factors are unique to each individual. Her interest in acupuncture grew through her own journey of personal growth and healing, where she experienced the benefits of this medicine firsthand. Before pursuing this path, Alisha worked for nearly a decade in law enforcement, a role that shaped her appreciation for resilience, compassion, and the importance of caring for both body and mind. In her practice, Alisha has a special interest in treating acute and chronic pain as well as concerns related to hormones, digestion, and skin health, approaching each case with curiosity, care, and a personalized plan. She meets every person where they are and supports them on their journey toward greater health and vitality.

35 today!

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, a woman’s life is said to move through 7 year cycles, each representing different stages of growth, vitality and change.

And today, I officially step into a new one: 35–42.

According to the Huangdi Neijing, 35 marks the beginning of a subtle shift. We move away from the peak vitality of our late 20s and into a stage where nourishing and preserving our Qi, Blood and Jing becomes increasingly important.

Feeling incredibly grateful to be spending this birthday abroad with my family, exploring the beautiful coast of Croatia.

Makarska, Croatia 🇭🇷 Surrounded by tons of lavender. Not one of my favourite herbs, THE herb.

I haven’t seemed to adjust to travelling like I used to. Once upon a time I could take a 12 hour flight and be A okay the next day. That hasn’t been the case this time. My sleep has really suffered.
Lavender isn’t traditionally a TCM herb, but it fits in well. It can help calm the Shen and move stagnant Qi. It’s helpful for stress, tension and a busy mind, so I personally benefit tremendously.

We were supposed to see the lavender fields in Hvar but changed our route, so finding all of this at one of our stays was really lovely. I snagged some and started putting a bit under my pillow for sleep support. Hoping it continues to do what it does best!

Dubrovnik, Croatia 🇭🇷

A day exploring Old Town (WAY too busy for me!) swimming in the Adriatic Sea, enjoying fresh seafood, and seeing some beautiful sunsets.

The Old Town had a ton of museums, but we found one that had an apothecary exhibit with some old herbal medicine books, tinctures, medicine droppers and pharmacy equipment dating back hundreds of years. It was really cool reading about some of the herbs we still use today (had to have it translated 😅) but their uses and applications varied slightly back then.

Beautiful city, crystal clear water, a sh*t ton of stairs, and some phenomenal history.

A good intake is about more than identifying where something hurts. It is about understanding the bigger picture.

When you come in with a concern, I am listening for a few things: when it started, how it has changed, what else was happening around the same time, and how it fits into your day-to-day life.

Two people can describe the same symptom and still have very different experiences behind it. Something that appeared last week may need a different approach than something you have been managing for years. Sleep, stress, energy, digestion, activity levels, and other changes can also provide useful context.

Just as importantly, your treatment plan has to make sense for your life. Recommendations are only useful if they are realistic for your schedule, responsibilities, and goals.

That is why the questions at the beginning of an appointment matter. The more complete the picture, the more thoughtfully we can approach your care.

A short walk. A deep breath. A glass of water. A few quiet minutes to reset.

On their own, these habits may seem small. Over time, they become the foundation for a healthier body, a calmer mind, and greater resilience. Lasting wellness isn't about perfection. It's about creating routines that support you, one step at a time.

At Needle & Flow, we believe meaningful change starts with consistent care for both the body and mind.

Tending to yourself is not indulgent. It is maintenance for a life you want to keep living well. A few drops of ritual, a moment of pause. Small acts of care add up to a steadier you.

A glimpse into my day at the clinic!

Every appointment starts with a quick review of my notes from the last visit. I want to see what’s changed and how things have been since our last session.

After our check in, I usually have a pretty good idea of which points I’ll be using. Then I assess how you’re moving and evaluate the acupuncture channels to make sure that plan still fits what your body is telling me before we get started.

You’ll find me at Miceli Family Chiropractic. A family-owned clinic with a great team!

Traditional Chinese Medicine has always looked deeper, beyond the symptom to the source.

Herbs, food, and acupuncture work together to nourish the body from its roots, combining time-honored wisdom with a thoughtful, whole-body approach to modern wellbeing.

Hi everyone! I thought it was time to properly introduce myself.

Life has a funny way of taking you in directions you never expected. Looking back, I’m so grateful that my own experience with chronic pain led me to a career where I get to help others every day. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me a little better. I can’t wait to continue growing, learning, and supporting this amazing community.

A lot of people wait to book because they are not sure how to explain what they are feeling.

The pain moves around. The fatigue comes and goes. Stress starts to feel physical. Sometimes symptoms do not fit neatly into one category.

You do not need to arrive with a perfect explanation. You do not need to know whether your symptoms are connected. You do not need to diagnose yourself before asking for support.

A first appointment is designed to slow things down and look at the full picture — your health history, lifestyle, current symptoms, stress, sleep, digestion, pain patterns, cycle changes, and energy levels.

The process is about listening carefully, asking better questions, and building a treatment plan that actually makes sense for your body.

First-time patients, please call to book.
