🍂 3 routine changes to help your muscles as summer ends

09/07/2026

🔥 Burnout is not a badge of honor.

Being exhausted doesn’t mean you’re working hard enough.
Being constantly stressed doesn’t mean you’re successful.
And running yourself into the ground isn’t something you should have to be proud of.

Your body keeps the score when you’re constantly operating on empty. Tight shoulders, headaches, jaw tension, poor sleep, fatigue, and that feeling of never truly being able to switch off can all be signs that your body needs a break.

Rest isn’t laziness.
Recovery isn’t weakness.
And taking care of yourself isn’t something you have to earn.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is pause. 🤍

Give your body the same care and attention you give everything else.

✨ You don’t need to burn out to prove that you’re doing enough. ✨

⛰️ A little adventure outside the treatment room.
Tent Ridge in Kananaskis did NOT disappoint.

This was exactly the kind of adventure I love — a little intimidating, physically demanding, and incredibly rewarding. The kind of hike where you have to stay present, trust your footing, and really pay attention to what your body is doing.

The scrambling and rock climbing sections were definitely my favourite. 🧗‍♀️ There’s something so satisfying about using your whole body to navigate the mountain, feeling your legs burn as you climb higher, your heart work harder, and then finally reaching a section where you can stop and take in the view.

It reminded me why I love being active: our bodies are capable of so much when we challenge them, listen to them, and give them the recovery they need.

And yes… my legs definitely felt that climb afterwards. 😂

As an RMT, I’m a huge believer in balancing pushing your body, with taking care of it. Whether you’re hiking, climbing, training, or simply moving through everyday life, recovery is part of the process.

Challenge yourself. Listen to your body. Recover well. Then go explore again. 🏔️
Because taking care of your body isn’t about avoiding the things that challenge it, it’s about giving it what it needs to keep doing the things you love.

Who else loves a hike that makes you question your life choices halfway up? 😂

Rich in life because my job is someone's self-care day. ✨
Stepping into the studio to help you recharge, release stress, and feel your best is a privilege every single day. If you’ve been running on empty lately, consider this your sign to slow down and put yourself first.
💆‍♀️ Treat yourself to some well-deserved downtime.

1:44:00. 🏅 Spartan 10K ✅

I’ll be honest… I woke up this morning with zero motivation to do this race. 😅

But I made a commitment to myself that I was going to show up and finish it, so I kept my word.

And I’m SO glad I did. I finished the 10K feeling strong, accomplished, and honestly pretty amazing. 💪

One of my biggest takeaways from training and racing is that taking care of your body doesn’t stop when you cross the finish line. Recovery is part of the work.

So now I’m practicing what I preach: light movement, stretching, foam rolling, hydration and giving my body the time it needs to recover. 🧘‍♀️

As an RMT, I spend a lot of time encouraging my clients to listen to their bodies, prioritize recovery and take care of themselves. This weekend was a good reminder to do the same for myself.

Challenge yourself. Keep your promises to yourself. And don’t forget to recover. ❤️

The meme made you laugh… now here’s the truth. 😄

Therapeutic massage isn’t about causing pain—it’s about working with your body to create lasting change.

✔️ Therapeutic discomfort? Sometimes.
❌ Suffering through pain? Never.

Sometimes an area may feel tender because it’s tight, overworked, or protecting an injury. My goal is never to “hurt” you, but to work within a pressure that your body can tolerate while helping reduce pain, improve movement, and speed recovery.

The best treatments are a team effort. Communication is key, and your comfort always comes first. 💙

Nervous about your first massage? You’re not alone.
My first massage was extremely intimidating for reasons I couldn’t pin point at the time, but like Madison, I’m glad I felt the fear but did it anyway. 💪
I always try to take the extra time and care to make all my clients feel safe, comfortable and truly relaxed. I am always open to suggestions and alterations to the massage, whether it be pressure, temperature, music, lighting, or altering the massage techniques.

If you’ve been nervous about booking your first session, consider this your sign to finally treat yourself! 🌿

🦴 Shin Splints: Why Your Shins Hurt When You Run

Shin splints are a common issue for runners and active people, and they usually show up as pain or soreness along the shin bone (tibia)—most often in the lower 2/3 of the leg.

So what causes them? 👇

✨ Common triggers include:

* Running when your body isn’t properly conditioned yet
* Running on hard surfaces (like pavement)
* Running on banked/uneven surfaces
* Wearing unsupportive shoes
* Jumping into intense leg activity after a period of inactivity
* Running in cold weather without a proper warm-up

🦵 Why it happens:
Often, the calf muscles are strong and dominant, while the muscles along the front of the shin are weaker—creating an imbalance and extra strain on the tibia.

💪 What can help:
Strengthening the muscles at the front of the shin can improve balance in the lower leg and reduce stress on the shin bone.

📌 If you’re dealing with shin splints, don’t ignore them—your body is asking for support, conditioning, and recovery.
