One treatment can feel incredible. Consistency creates the ritual. đ¤
When clients first experience Sculpting Buccal Facial Massage, one of the questions we often hear is: How often should I come?
At The Artistry, we take a protocol-based approach. Rather than treating every appointment as an isolated experience, we look at your individual goals, patterns of tension, lifestyle and how you respond to treatment.
For clients who want a more consistent approach, we may recommend beginning with weekly treatments for approximately 4â6 weeks, followed by a reassessment and a personalized maintenance schedule.
From there, many clients choose to return approximately every 4â6 weeks. And for established clients, an annual concentrated series can be a beautiful way to revisit their goals, reassess what has changed and refresh their routine.
This philosophy of initial care â reassessment â maintenance is familiar across many forms of hands-on care. With facial massage, however, there is no universal schedule and more treatment isnât automatically better.
Your protocol should evolve with you.
Your facial tension may change.
Your lifestyle may change.
Your skin may change.
Your goals may change.
And our approach can change with them.
⨠Consistency. Reassessment. Maintenance.
A thoughtful approach to facial massage that supports the way you look and feel.

Phthalates: informed, not afraid. đż
Phthalates are a group of chemicals we can encounter through everyday products from plastics and food-contact materials to certain cosmetics, fragrances and household products.
So why do we choose to reduce our exposure at The Artistry?
Not because we believe one product or one ingredient is automatically harmful. Itâs because weâre interested in the bigger picture of repeated and cumulative exposure.
Some phthalates have been studied for their potential endocrine-disrupting effects, and research has also explored associations between certain phthalate exposures and conditions such as uterine fibroids. That research is important but itâs equally important to understand that an association does not prove that phthalates cause fibroids.
Our approach is therefore not about fear, perfection or throwing everything in your bathroom away.
Itâs about making thoughtful choices where we can. Choosing transparent formulations. Reducing unnecessary exposure. Paying attention to the products we use frequently. And remembering that small, realistic changes over time can be meaningful.
You also donât have to overhaul everything at once. Start with the products you use every day, particularly those used over larger areas of the body, and go from there.
Less fear. More awareness. Better choices.

Collagen: inside + out. â¨
Thereâs a lot of conversation around collagen but topical collagen and collagen supplements donât quite work the same way.
Topically, I focus less on finding a product simply labelled âcollagenâ and more on ingredients that help protect and support the skin, including retinoids or bakuchiol, vitamin C, peptides and, importantly, daily SPF.
Internally, adequate protein, vitamin C and a nutrient-rich diet give our bodies the building blocks needed to make collagen. I also personally use a hydrolyzed collagen peptide supplement as an additional part of my routine but I think itâs important to view supplementation as exactly that: a supplement, not a miracle solution.
Research into oral collagen is promising, with some studies reporting improvements in skin hydration, elasticity and the appearance of wrinkles. However, the evidence is nuanced, research quality varies, and there isnât one universally established âperfectâ dose.
When choosing a supplement, look beyond the marketing. Consider the form of collagen, actual dose per serving, source, allergen information and overall formulation.
Because healthy skin is rarely about one product, one ingredient or one treatment. Itâs about what we do consistently, both inside and out. đ¤

Your brows are going through a journey, trust the process. đ¤
One of the biggest things we prepare clients for with microblading is that your brows wonât look the same every day while they heal.
They may start out looking beautifully defined, then appear darker or more intense before beginning to flake and fade. At one point, you might even wonder, âWhere did my brows go?â
This is all part of the healing process. As the skin continues to heal, the pigment gradually settles and the brows begin to soften and reappear. Some areas may look lighter or a little uneven along the way, which is also why the touch-up appointment is such an important part of the process.
The goal isnât perfect brows on Day 1. Itâs beautiful, natural-looking healed results.
So be patient with your skin, follow your aftercare, and try not to judge your final result too early.
⨠Trust the process. Beautiful brows take time.

Do you ever notice your jaw tightening when youâre stressed? Or looking for something to help with stress?
Your jaw doesnât exist separately from the rest of your nervous system.
During periods of stress, many of us unconsciously clench our teeth, tighten our jaw, hold our shoulders higher or change the way we breathe.
One simple tool we love is box breathing: inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4.
Controlled, slower breathing can influence the autonomic nervous system and support parasympathetic activity the part associated with rest and recovery.
For someone who carries stress in their jaw, breathwork isnât a treatment for a TMJ disorder, but it can be a useful addition to a broader wellness routine by helping reduce overall stress and bringing awareness back to areas where youâre holding tension.
Try it now: unclench your teeth, soften your tongue, drop your shoulders and take a slow breath.
Sometimes wellness starts with something as simple as noticing. đ¤

Your face has muscles too. đ¤
We spend so much time thinking about what we put on our skin that itâs easy to forget about everything happening underneath it.
Our facial muscles are working throughout the day when we talk, chew, smile, squint and, for many of us, clench our jaw.
Sculpting Buccal Facial Massage allows me to approach the face differently. By combining external facial massage with intraoral buccal techniques, Iâm able to work with facial tissues from both sides and focus on areas where you may be holding tension.
The goal isnât to aggressively manipulate your face or promise permanent structural changes. Itâs thoughtful, anatomy-conscious facial work designed to encourage relaxation, relieve feelings of tension and leave the face looking refreshed and beautifully rested.
Skincare cares for the surface. Facial massage allows us to consider whatâs happening beneath it, too.

Ingredient Spotlight: PARABENS đż
Youâve probably seen âparaben-freeâ written across skincare and beauty products but what does that actually mean?
Parabens are preservatives that help protect cosmetic formulas from bacteria, yeast and mold. Theyâve become controversial because some demonstrate weak estrogen-like activity, prompting research into their potential effects on the endocrine system.
But thereâs an important piece of context thatâs often missing on social media: the presence of a potentially concerning property doesnât necessarily mean an ingredient is harmful at the amount youâre actually exposed to.
Certain parabens continue to be permitted in cosmetics within regulatory limits, while others have been restricted or prohibited in some jurisdictions.
So why might you still choose to minimize them?
I believe in a thoughtful, precautionary approach to beauty. If an effective, beautifully formulated alternative is available, some people may prefer to reduce unnecessary exposure without becoming fearful of every ingredient on a label.
And remember: paraben-free doesnât automatically mean safer, cleaner or better. A well-designed preservation system is essential to keeping many skincare products safe.
My philosophy is simple: understand your ingredients, consider the evidence, and make informed choices that work for you. đ¤
