1. They can be a source of ideas.
I can see what people in my niche are talking about, what questions customers are asking, seasonal trends, packaging ideas, markets, etc.
2. It helps me understand my market.
Following other tallow makers, natural skincare businesses, farmers market vendors and local makers gives me a sense of what’s happening around me.
3. It can create community rather than competition.
Small businesses often overlap in customers without truly competing. A tallow maker, a local soap maker, a beekeeper, and a herbalist can actually complement one another.
