I know this might be controversial, but I’m going to say it anyway.

People often say, ā€œMarriage is not an achievement.ā€ And I understand why some people feel that way. But for me, my marriage is one of the greatest achievements of my life.

Not because I got married, but because of who I married.

When you’re married to someone who genuinely wants the best for you, supports your dreams, sacrifices for your family, shows up for you and the kids even when it’s hard, and loves you consistently, that’s a blessing I don’t take for granted.

Choosing the right life partner has changed the course of my life. It has given me peace, stability, encouragement, and the confidence to pursue my dreams.

So no, I’m not in the group that says marriage can never be an achievement. For me, a healthy, loving, and supportive marriage is absolutely an achievements.

And before anyone misunderstands me, I’m not saying unmarried people are less successful or that marriage defines a person’s worth. I’m simply saying that, in my life, marrying the right person has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

People think that after you’ve had a few kids, you become used to it. You don’t.

Every single time, you’re thrown back into that same place of worry.

ā€œWhat do I do?ā€

ā€œIs this serious?ā€

ā€œShould I take them to the hospital?ā€

Whenever one of your children gets sick, no matter how minor, it never gets easier.

The fear, the helplessness, and the emotional weight are so real.

I’ve been living through that these past few days, and it’s been hard.

If your child is sick too, I’m praying for you. Lord, please heal our children and give every parent strength and wisdom. Amen šŸ™

Before you become a parent, or if you don’t have children yet, here’s something I hope you’ll remember:

Children deserve to be in church too.

Why do parents get the side eyes and judgment the moment their child makes a little noise? Why the sighs? The stares? The frustration?

Children aren’t robots. They don’t come with a mute button. They’re learning, growing, and experiencing the world in the only way they know how.

We were all children once. Every adult sitting quietly in church today was once the child who couldn’t sit still.

Yes, parents should do their best to teach their children to behave respectfully in church. But let’s also give them grace. Parenting isn’t as simple as saying, ā€œJust make them stop.ā€

The church should be one of the most welcoming places for families not a place where parents feel embarrassed or anxious every time their child makes a sound.

Because children don’t just belong in church.

They belong in the presence of God.

So the next time you see a parent struggling with a toddler during service, don’t give them the side eye.

Give them a smile. Give them grace. You never know how much they need it.

Nobody warned me that studying nursing would be emotionally heavy.

Everyone talks about the exams, the assignments, and the sleepless nights. But no one talks about what it does to your heart.

I’m currently studying pathology and pharmacology, and after almost every lecture, I leave feeling… sad.

Not because the courses are difficult, but because you begin to realize just how many things can go wrong in the human body. Every disease we learn about isn’t just a chapter in a textbook it’s someone’s reality. Someone is living with that diagnosis. Someone’s family is praying for a miracle.

Then there’s pharmacology. A medication can save a life, but it also comes with side effects, interactions, and risks. It’s a constant reminder of how delicate the human body really is.

The hardest part? You start looking at your own body differently. Every little symptom suddenly makes you think of a hundred possibilities. šŸ˜…

Maybe this is why healthcare workers carry such a unique emotional weight. We don’t just learn about diseases, we learn about people’s pain, struggles, and the lives behind every diagnosis.

I’m hopeful that with time, I’ll learn to carry this knowledge without carrying all the sadness that comes with it.

To my fellow nursing and healthcare students or workers, have you ever felt this way, or is it just me?
