Continuing our Meet the Team series, we’re excited to introduce Mays, one of our dedicated Registered Dental Hygienists at Aldershot Village Dental! 🦷

With nine years of experience in the dental field and having graduated with honours, Mays brings a strong foundation of knowledge, clinical experience, and a genuine passion for patient care to our team. Having been part of the Aldershot Village Dental family for the past four years, she has built meaningful relationships with our patients and become a valued member of our team.

For Mays, dental hygiene is about much more than maintaining healthy teeth and gums. It’s about building meaningful connections, helping patients feel comfortable, and creating a positive experience every time they visit. She believes that taking the time to listen, answer questions, and understand each patient’s individual needs makes all the difference.

One of the things Mays enjoys most about her profession is the opportunity to educate and empower patients to take an active role in their oral health. Whether she’s providing preventive care, sharing oral hygiene tips, or simply helping someone feel more at ease in the dental chair, her goal is to make every patient feel supported and confident in their smile.

Mays takes pride in being part of a profession that allows her to combine her clinical skills with her love for working with people. Her friendly approach and commitment to patient comfort reflect her genuine enjoyment of what she does.

Outside the clinic, Mays loves travelling, exploring new countries, and experiencing different cultures. She also enjoys shopping and staying active, always finding ways to make the most of her time outside of work! ✈️🛍️

Continuing our Meet the Team series, we’re introducing Dr. Khaled, who works alongside Dr. Rasha to provide comprehensive dental care at Aldershot Village Dental.

An internationally trained dentist, Dr. Khaled brings years of diverse clinical experience from practicing dentistry in both Saudi Arabia and Canada. His background has given him a broad perspective on patient care and a deep appreciation for building meaningful relationships with patients.

Dr. Khaled believes that great dentistry begins with trust, patience, and communication. He understands that dental visits can sometimes feel overwhelming, so he prioritizes creating an environment where patients feel comfortable, heard, and involved in their care. He takes the time to listen, explain treatment options clearly, and ensure patients feel confident in their decisions.

His clinical interests include restorative dentistry, oral surgery, dental implants, and comprehensive treatment planning. He particularly enjoys helping patients restore their oral health, function, and confidence through personalized treatment, focusing on long-term solutions that support their overall oral health.

One of the qualities that defines Dr. Khaled most is his calm and thoughtful approach to dentistry. He believes every patient deserves individualized care and that no two treatment plans are exactly alike. Whether performing a procedure or discussing treatment options, he values attention to detail, patient education, and making the experience as comfortable as possible.

Dr. Khaled also values teamwork and collaboration. He believes that excellent patient care begins with open communication, mutual respect, and a supportive team working toward the same goal.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Khaled enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and following soccer, especially cheering for FC Barcelona. He speaks both English and Arabic and enjoys connecting with patients from different cultures and backgrounds.

We’re starting our Meet the Team series with Dr. Rasha Alshibani, dentist, practice owner, and the heart behind Aldershot Village Dental.

Originally from Saudi Arabia, Dr. Rasha is Canadian and American board certified. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she served as an emergency dentist in two of the limited dental offices that remained open in Ontario, helping provide urgent dental care while reducing pressure on hospital emergency departments.

Her approach to dentistry goes far beyond treating teeth. Dr. Rasha strongly believes in compassionate, trauma-informed care and in looking at each patient as a whole. She values the connection between oral health, overall health, and emotional well-being, and works to make sure patients feel safe, heard, respected, informed, and involved in their care.

That same philosophy shapes the way she leads. She believes great patient care starts with taking care of the people providing it. She values teamwork, communication, accountability, emotional intelligence, continuous learning, and a strong sense of support within the team.

One of the things that defines her most is her commitment to growth. She is constantly learning and improving herself, but just as importantly, she wants the people around her to grow with her. She believes leadership is not about moving forward alone, but about helping others build confidence, develop their skills, reach their potential, and rise alongside you.

Her goal is to help create an environment where both patients and team members can feel supported, trusted, and empowered.

Her philosophy is simple: care for the person before caring for the teeth, and take care of the people who take care of the patients. 🖤

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Rasha is a proud mom of three. In her free time, she enjoys reading, swimming, and traveling with her children, making time for the people and experiences that matter most to her.

Today, September 30, is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day. 🧡

Serving Indigenous communities in Northern Ontario and Manitoba has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my career. Earning my patients’ trust and hearing their feedback meant so much to me. It reinforced how deeply it matters to feel safe, heard and respected in the dental chair.

That experience inspired me to carry trauma-informed dentistry into my care for every patient: listening without judgment, explaining each step, asking permission and giving people choices and control.

Before we care for someone’s teeth, we must earn their trust and care
about how they feel.

Trauma-informed dentistry means listening without judgment, explaining before we begin, asking permission and giving patients control over their care—including the freedom to pause.

Helping patients feel informed, confident and empowered in their dental decisions remains one of the most meaningful parts of my work.

We also understand that we don’t need to know someone’s whole story to respect their boundaries. Trauma spoken or not, this approach applied to all has lead to patients feeling safe, welcomed & confident at their dental visits. Every patient deserves to feel heard, respected and in control.

At Aldershot Village Dental, this guides our approach: we care for the mind and emotions before we begin caring for the teeth. Every patient brings a story, and every story deserves respect. Especially for children, where memory can linger for a lifetime , we commit to great children experience that a child will grow having a great memory of visiting the dentist which will lead to a healthier future generations.
