Trail Access updates!
📍Nusatsum W FSR is clear to Purgatory Lookout
📍Clayton Forest Service Rd is now clear of the large Boulder at 15k (M Gurr Trail may still have some snow)
📍Medby Lookout trail has been cleared of blowdown
📍Schoolhouse wayfinding signage is complete
📍In Tweedsmuir Park the Crystal lake trail is clear to Boyd Pass and Stillwater lake trail is cleaned up

🔥All Open Burning Banned Throughout the CCRD | In Effect Noon Thursday, May 7, 2026
Please be advised that the BC Wildfire Service Coastal Fire Centre will be implementing new fire prohibitions and restrictions. The following will be prohibited across the Coastal Fire Centre:
❌ Category 1 campfires (except within the Haida Gwaii Forest District)
❌ Category 2 open fires (backyard burning)
❌ Category 3 open fires (industrial burning)
Also prohibited in areas where campfires are banned:
❌ Burn barrels and burn cages
❌ Fireworks
❌ Binary exploding targets
❌ Air curtain burners and carbonizers
❌ Sky lanterns
❌ Wood-fired hot tubs, pizza ovens, and similar devices unless vented through a building flue/chimney
Please use caution and help reduce wildfire risk across our region.

Run Coola is the Bella Coola Valley’s first annual trail race!
Walk or run - just have some fun! All skill levels are invited to register for this amazing community event. The perks? Exercise, goody bags, t-shirts with great artwork, participation medals, and a bbq lunch.

It takes a village!
Our local volunteers at the Trails Alliance with the help of community members, the Wildfire crew and Ministry of Forests are working hard on improving and clearing our trails for the season.
Schoolhouse Trail Network is currently being upgraded with directional signage to help with way-finding.
The blown out creek section has been repaired - a HUGE THANK YOU to the folks involved in this effort!!! ❤️

Perfect timing to announce this year’s date for the annual community clean up - Saturday April 18th.
We will be hosting this event at the Visitor Centre in Hagensborg (Norwegian Heritage House). BBQ, cash prizes, + come see the new visitor centre if you didn’t last summer!
