A very frequent visitor to a friends suet block in the Cariboo. Quite the intense eye!

Turkey Vulture soaring over the river yesterday and the never ending Western Warbling Vireo is in the yard!

Thanks for all the updates on bird sightings from those that catch this bird page. Ralph and Kyha have been seeing a Black throated Grey Warbler ( I wish). Harvey and Carol have see a Western Tanager (nice). And have also heard a Townsend Warbler like Liz has. The Red-winged Blackbirds are singing at the beaver pond. Lots more to come.

So I've been lazy about posting on this bird site. Too busy gardening. But there is a lot of bird activity around. Harvey and Carol have been seeing White-crowned sparrows for a few weeks and now there are lots of Golden-crowned sparrows here . I too, as have H&C seen a flycatcher and thanks Harvey for the ID of the Hammonds Flycatcher. Those Empidonax are tricky to identify. I also heard the distinctive sound of the Cassin's Vireo . The Band-tailed pigeons are still at HTs and I saw a Hermit Thrush the other day. No song yet.

Finally the warmth and sun has arrived in the valley after a snowy,cold March! So what Spring bird sightings are people seeing? Harvey and Monica have seen what is usually the first wood warbler of the season the Yellow-rumped Warbler. Monica has also seen a male Wood Duck. Carolyn on April 2 has her first Rufous Hummingbird. In the past few days I've heard the Ruby-crowned Kinglet's lovely, complex song. The male's ruby crown mostly stays hidden except maybe when he wants to show off to the ladies. Always a sign of spring for me. https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Ruby-crowned_Kinglet/sounds
