One of the biggest obstacles to getting started with refilling is the uncertainty about how much it’s going to cost, which we completely understand. Here’s a look at some of our most popular refill products from a variety of different categories with exactly how much it cost to refill !
Refilling works by bringing us your empty, or almost empty bottles and refilling them with items from our curation of natural, non-toxic and eco-friendly home and body products. We put your bottle on the scale, tare it, fill it, weight it and then charge by the weight of what went into the bottle! Because it’s charged by the weight, the exact amount will vary every time you fill depending on the exact amount that goes in, but these numbers here give you an estimate.
And yes, we refill any bottle or jar, you can put your shampoo into an old spaghetti sauce jar (as long as it’s clean) - we don’t judge! The most important thing is using what we already have and limiting the amount of waste we are creating 🌎🌱

Any day that starts with the Abbotsford Farm & Country Market and a coffee is gonna be a good day! This is a pretty typical Saturday for me when I’m at the store - most of the day is devoted to helping all of you get your herbs, teas and refills which is one of my favourite parts of what we do, but there’s always a little time to sneak in a project or two as well 🥰
This particular day I tested a new recipe for a house made nut milk that we’ll be using in all of our fall and winter tea bar drinks (it turned out so good 👀). Then I moved our natural skincare section over to a new shelf and gave it a much needed refresh and reorganize!

Herbs for Support During Fire Season ❤️🩹
It’s been so incredibly heartbreaking to see so much of our beautiful country burn this summer. Our hearts are with everyone who has been affected by fires here in BC and across Canada.
We wanted to share some of the herbs we’re recommending to people who have been impacted by the fires, both for respiratory support and emotional support. As we continue to experience earlier, longer more unpredictable and more devastating fire seasons, it’s important that we know which plants we can rely on to care for ourselves, our families and our communities as we navigate our way through this disaster 🌱

Our herbal shrubs are finally here! If you’ve been into the tea bar - you’ve probably seen “herbal shrubs, coming soon” on the menu since May.. better late than never though, right? 🫣💛
Herbal shrubs are traditional way of preserving and enjoying herbs, fruits and other botanicals throughout the year! Shrubs are made by infusing plants into vinegar and then adding a touch of sweetness (usually honey). This results in a bright, tangy, herbaceous concentrate that is incredible with sparkling water - but can also be added to cocktails, mocktails, used in salad dressings and more.
We’re serving up some of our shrubs with sparkling water in the tea bar starting today! Stop by this weekend if you’re in need of a refreshment and want to try something unique. We know drinking vinegar sounds crazy but we promise, it’s actually pretty dang good AND you’re truly nourishing your body! 🌱

AN UPDATE ON PURCHASING HERBAL TINCTURES 💛🌱
If you’ve been into the shop or on our website in the last few months, you’ve likely noticed some changes. Our herbal tinctures are no longer out on the shelf, and they are no longer publicly listed on our website. This is because we are now operating as a compounding herbal dispensary 🌼
This means that rather than a shelf filled with standardized herbal remedies, we are now dispensing and blending herbal remedies that are tailored to individuals and providing consultations on all herbal tinctures purchased so we can help you know whether a product is right for you. You can still get all of your favourite herbal tinctures and remedies from us - the process just looks a little bit different! Read through this post to understand how herbal tinctures purchases work now and send any questions you may have our way 💛
We’re incredibly excited about this next chapter, and we hope you are too. Operating as a compounding herbal dispensary allows us to offer a more personalized approach to herbal medicine. It also gives us the opportunity to work alongside our wonderful practitioner partners, drawing from our library of 450+ herbs and preparing custom remedies that truly reflect each individuals unique needs. We believe this is how herbal medicine has always been meant to be practiced, and we’re really proud to help keep that tradition alive 💫

NEW TO THE SHOP: Leftover Hippies Incense 💫
Leftover Hippies is a small, locally owned business based out of Mission that creates clean, truly natural and traditional incense sticks.
So many incense sticks on the markets these days are sticks that have been soaked in harsh chemicals and fragrance oils - but true incense sticks, like Leftover Hippies, are made from pure herbs and natural plant materials!
Each stick is handmade from Makko (a bark that acts like charcoal and allows the stick to keep burning), Acacia Gum (a natural gum from the sap of the Acacia tree that helps bind the ingredients together) and ground herbs.
I burned one of these in my home the other night and absolutely loved it. If you’ve been looking for a natural, traditional incense stick to burn we really think you’ll love these ones 💛

HERBS FOR A BETTER SLEEP 💤🌿
Every day, we have people come into the shop looking for an herb to help them get a better night's sleep.
One of the first questions we ask is, "what's keeping you awake or preventing you from sleeping?"
Is it a racing mind? Accumulated stress that you can't seem to shake? Trouble falling asleep? Trouble staying asleep?
The answers to these questions matter deeply because not all sleep herbs work in the same way. Herbalism isn't a one size fits all and it isn't about finding the "strongest" herb, it's about finding the one that's the best fit for that individual person and their unique experience.
