AFRICAN FOODIES 😂
Good morning!
African parents:
“You are eating too much.”
Also African parents:
“Come and eat.”
You say you're full…
“Just take small.”
Small becomes rice.
Rice becomes stew.
Stew becomes meat.
Meat becomes another plate. 😭😂
Then they ask:
“Why are you gaining weight?”
PLEASE. 😂

“You are beautiful… but you would be prettier if…”
If you grew up African, you probably know that sentence.
“If you were lighter…”
“If you lost weight…”
“If you fixed your nose…”
“If your hair was longer…”
“If your skin was clearer…”
There was always something.
And eventually, we started believing beauty was a destination.
Something we had to earn.
Something we could buy.
Something another person had to approve.
But here's what I want every African woman reading this to remember:
You can improve your skin without hating your skin.
You can lose weight without hating your body.
You can wear makeup without believing your face isn't enough.
You can take care of yourself without trying to become someone else.
That distinction matters.
Because self-care should not become self-rejection.
❤️ Finish this sentence:
“I am learning to love my ______.”
I'll start:
I am learning to love the woman I am becoming.

Once a week, I have my little cucumber mask ritual.
Not because I believe cucumber will magically erase every dark spot overnight.
But because sometimes your skin doesn’t need another complicated 10-step routine. Sometimes it needs water, cooling, soothing and a little intentional care.
Cucumber has a high water content, which makes it a lovely ingredient for giving the skin a fresh, hydrated feeling. It also contains compounds with antioxidant properties, while its cool, soothing sensation can be especially comforting when the skin feels warm, tired or puffy.
And there’s another benefit I love:
The ritual itself.
I take 10–15 minutes to sit still, put those cold cucumber slices on my face and just breathe.
No rushing.
No phone scrolling.
No trying to fix my entire life in one evening. 😂
Just me and my skin.
A little education though: cucumber is a beautiful supportive skincare ritual, but it is not a treatment for hyperpigmentation, acne or serious skin conditions. And if your skin is sensitive, always pay attention to how it reacts. Fresh food ingredients can still irritate some people.
For me, this is about maintaining that fresh, comfortable, well-cared-for feeling.
Once a week. Simple. Cooling. Intentional.
Because glowing skin isn't always about adding more.
Sometimes, it's about slowing down enough to take care of what you already have.
Would you try a weekly cucumber mask ritual? 🥒
Expensive makeup can't hide neglected skin.

Some skin just needs the right kind of attention.
A little hydration. A little consistency. Products that actually understand melanin-rich skin.
That effortless “What are you using?” glow? Start there.
Your skin will know the difference.
SOCIAL MEDIA 😂
Social media has taught us something dangerous:
Someone wakes up at 5am, goes to the gym, drinks green juice, journals, reads 3 books and becomes a millionaire…
And you're there at 10:30am eating yesterday's plantain. 😭😂
Please relax.
Your life is not behind because somebody posted their highlight reel.
Good morning! 😂❤️

The businesswoman who was afraid to charge more.
“I can't increase my price. My customers will leave.”
So she kept selling at the same price.
Meanwhile:
Packaging became more expensive.
Transport increased.
Raw materials increased.
Rent increased.
Everything increased.
Except her price.
Eventually, she was working harder…
for less money.
This is something many African entrepreneurs struggle with:
**We confuse affordability with profitability.**
Being affordable is good.
Destroying your business to remain affordable is not.
If your price doesn't allow you to:
replace your stock,
pay your workers,
cover your expenses,
market your business,
and make a reasonable profit…
you don't have a sustainable business.
Your customers may love you.
But your business still needs to survive.
👇🏾 Business owners:
**When was the last time you reviewed your prices?**
And if you're not a business owner, tag someone who needs to hear this.

Tomorrow's story is about **colourism.**
Just a simple ice massage will do so much to your skin
