R.I.P Mr Williams my father-inlaw
He wasn’t just Zamani’s father. He was someone who showed up, who cared deeply, and who made you feel supported and valued.
There was a time we were on vacation in Guyana when I got sick and needed to go to the doctor. Zamani had an important appointment that he couldn’t miss, and it really bothered him that he couldn’t be there with me. So he spoke to his father about it.
Without hesitation, his father said, “I’ll go with her.”
That doctor’s visit took over five hours, and he stayed the entire time—sitting patiently, reading his paper, waiting for me. When I came out, he didn’t just leave it there. He sat with me and wanted to know everything the doctor said. He asked questions, and if something didn’t sound right, he challenged it. He made sure I was truly okay.
That was the kind of man he was.
