πŸ«€ Something new is coming to Slovianka next week.

Whenever I introduce something new, I like to test it on myself first.

πŸ“Š Over the past few days I've been exploring how my own Heart Rate Variability (HRV) changes throughout the day, how it responds to rest, stress and breathing, and how to make the whole process comfortable and meaningful for my clients.

✨ From next week, you'll be able to add a short Heart Rate Variability (HRV) assessment to your Red Light Therapy session at Slovianka.
HRV isn't a diagnosis, and it doesn't tell us whether you're healthy or unwell.

πŸ’™ What it can do is provide a snapshot of how your autonomic nervous system is responding at that particular moment. It can also help us monitor changes over time, alongside your Red Light Therapy sessions and healthy lifestyle habits.

πŸŽ‰ As an introductory offer, you can add an HRV assessment to any Red Light Therapy session for just $10 during the launch period.

πŸ’¬ If you're curious to learn more about your nervous systemβ€”or simply interested in trying something newβ€”I'd love to chat.

πŸ“… Bookings are now open for next week.

πŸ“© Send me a message if you'd like to be among the first to try it, or if you have any questions.

Something new is happening at Simply Great Health Simply Great Health... ✨

I'm so happy to welcome Kari and her beautiful project Alchemy for Empaths to our little wellness family under Martine's roof.

One of the things I love most about this space is that it's becoming home to people who genuinely care about helping othersβ€”each in their own unique way.

While I focus on evidence-based Red Light Therapy at Slovianka, Kari brings her own approach, creating a space for those looking for reflection, connection and personal growth.

I believe we're strongest when we complement rather than compete with one another.

If you're curious about what Kari does, have a look here:

Tonight I started writing a long post... and abandoned it halfway.

Some days running a small business looks inspiring. Some days it looks like staring at a blinking cursor.

The studio is ready for another week, though. And so am I.
See you in Wynnum.🌞

One area... or more?

One question I hear quite often is:
"Can I treat more than one area during the same visit?"

Absolutely.

If you'd like to focus on more than one area, I simply extend your appointment so that each area still receives a full 20-minute treatment.

For example:
πŸ”΄ One area (20 minutes) – $30
πŸ”΄ Two areas (40 minutes total) – $40 (instead of $60)
πŸ”΄ Three areas (60 minutes total) – $60 (instead of $90)

Why?

Because I don't want you to have to choose between your sore knee and your aching back... or between supporting your skin and easing everyday discomfort.
If you're taking the time to look after yourself, it makes sense to get the most from your visit.

Every session is tailored to what your body needs that day. And if you're not sure which areas would benefit most, I'm always happy to help you decide.

Today won't be about red light.
It'll be about light itself.

The crystal-clear light of an early winter morning. The golden midday sun filtering through the trees. The warm glow of late afternoon, when the day slowly settles into the deep blue of evening.

Light isn't just something I work with. It's something we all need.
And I think everyone has a favourite kind of light.

Mine?
Grey skies. Misty mornings. Cool winter days. The kind of weather many people call "gloomy".
And one more... Sunlight pouring through deep green trees with dark storm clouds waiting in the background.

Every morning, before I open Slovianka, I take my dog for a walk.
These quiet moments remind me why I chose Wynnum to be my home, and why this is exactly where I wanted to create my little studio.

After a morning like this, smiling for the rest of the day comes naturally.

At myself.

And at you.

See you at Slovianka. 🌿

Does a higher price always mean a better service?

I came across an interesting discussion recently.

The idea was simple: if you want people to see your service as high quality, your prices need to be high too.

It made me stop and think.

Could I charge more for Red Light Therapy?

Probably.

But here's the thing...

Photobiomodulation usually isn't about one appointment. Like exercise, physiotherapy or healthy eating, it's consistency that makes the biggest difference.

I don't want people to come to Slovianka once just to see what it's like.

I want them to be able to come often enough to give their body a real opportunity to respond.

So my prices aren't lower because I believe the service is worth less.

They're lower because I believe good care shouldn't only be available to people who can afford premium prices.

I'd rather help someone come back ten times than impress them once.

That's the philosophy behind Slovianka.

"I had a Red Light Therapy session... and I didn't feel any different. Why?"

It's one of the most common questions I hear.

Because photobiomodulation doesn't always feel the way people expect it to.

Some people notice changes after their very first session β€” less discomfort, better sleep, or easier recovery. Others don't notice anything dramatic at all.

And that's completely normal.

Red Light Therapy isn't like a painkiller that masks symptoms. It supports the natural processes inside your cells, and your body needs time to respond.

Think of it this way:

One workout won't build muscle.
One healthy meal won't transform your health.
Most things that support your body rely on consistency, not a single treatment.

Red Light Therapy is no different.

Of course, everyone's response is different. Factors such as your overall health, the condition being addressed, and the treatment schedule can all influence how quickly you notice changes.

At Slovianka, we don't just focus on one appointment β€” we build a plan around what you're hoping to achieve.

So if your first session didn't feel dramatic, it doesn't necessarily mean nothing was happening.

Sometimes the biggest changes happen quietly, one session at a time. 🌿

πŸ“ If you're curious whether Red Light Therapy could support your goals, I'd be happy to chat. Send me a message. 😊

I know this weather is not for everyone. πŸ’§πŸ§ŠπŸ€§πŸ₯Άβ˜”
But - OMG - this is exactly MY kind of weather. 🩡🧊🀍

One of the coldest weekends of this winter is behind us.

Did you feel it too? πŸ₯Ά

If these chilly weeks have taken a toll on your body, I've got you.

Sore throat? Blocked sinuses?
Aching joints or a cranky lower back?
Not sleeping well? Looking as tired as you feel?
Or maybe you got a little too enthusiastic on the hiking trails or crossed the finish line of a marathon... and now every step to the car feels like a personal challenge?

Come and spend some time under the red light.

Sounds too good to be true?

That's exactly what many people think at first.

Red Light Therapy (Photobiomodulation) isn't magic, and it doesn't rely on "believing" for it to work. It's also not a cure-all.

What it is, however, is a technology backed by decades of research.

Red and near-infrared light are absorbed by the mitochondria – the tiny "power stations" inside our cells. This can support ATP (cellular energy) production, help regulate inflammation, improve circulation and assist the body's natural repair processes.

That's why researchers have studied photobiomodulation for muscle recovery, joint pain, wound healing, oral health, sports recovery and many other applications.

Does it fix everything?

No.

Can it be a valuable tool to help your body recover and function at its best?

For many people, yes.

If you're wondering whether Red Light Therapy could be a good option for your situation, send me a message. I'll always give you an honest answer. If I don't think it's the right approach for you, I'll tell you that too.

😎
I may have a tiny soft spot for Erling Haaland. 😁

So yes... whenever another article pops up mentioning his recovery routine, I can't help but read it.

What caught my attention isn't the celebrity.
It's the fact that red light therapy keeps appearing as part of his recovery routine.

Over the past couple of years it's been mentioned by The Independent, The Athletic and The Sun, alongside recovery tools like sauna, ice baths and stretching.

Does that prove red light therapy works?
Of course not.
Science doesn't work that way.

What it does show is that photobiomodulation has become a mainstream recovery tool in elite sport rather than an obscure wellness trend.

The research into red and near-infrared light has been growing for years, and it's exciting to see that conversation becoming more common outside scientific journals.

The best part?
Recovery isn't only for elite athletes.
Most of us aren't preparing for a World Cup.
We're recovering from long workdays, physical jobs, training sessions, stress, poor sleep or simply the demands of everyday life.

That's exactly why I brought evidence-informed photobiomodulation to Slovianka.
A calm space where you can slow down, recharge and give your body the support it deserves.
(And yes... if Erling ever visits Brisbane, I already know where I'd love to see him book a session. πŸ˜‰)
