NOT EVERY LINE BESIDE YOUR EYE IS A CROW’S FOOT 👀

This is one of my favourite things to educate patients on.

When we smile, our facial muscles don’t work in isolation.

The orbicularis oculi contributes to the classic lines that appear at the outer corner of the eye ,what we commonly call “crow’s feet”.

But look slightly lower 👇🏼

As the cheek elevates during a genuine smile, muscles including the zygomaticus major and minor lift the midface. This movement can bunch and compress the skin beneath and lateral to the eye, creating additional smile lines.

They may look like crow’s feet , but they’re not necessarily being created by the same muscular movement.

And that distinction matters.

Trying to eliminate every line around the eye can mean interfering with movement that contributes to a natural, expressive smile.

Good aesthetic assessment isn’t about chasing every wrinkle. It’s understanding the anatomy creating it.

The goal? Preserve expression. Respect anatomy. Treat appropriately.

Movement is normal. Not every line needs to disappear.

LIP REJUVENATION ISN’T ALWAYS ABOUT VOLUME 👄
