PEOPLE: We need to have the talk...

Hi Beautiful Chumba People :-)

So here we are again. That time of year where we gather our collective adultness, take a deep breath, and have the talk.

You know the one.

No, not that one. The other one. The one about prices.

Here's the situation. The Fair Work Commission — those lovely people in Canberra who decide what our team gets paid — have handed down a 4.75% increase to wages across the hair and beauty industry, effective 1 July 2026. We then consulted our accountants (spreadsheets were opened, creative juices immediately died), did some advanced hairdressing mathematics, and landed on a 5% increase across all services.

We know. We're sorry. We tried negotiating with our staff about the whole "going without food and rent" arrangement but they weren't having it. Spoilt, the lot of them. We also lodged a formal complaint with the national cost of living but have yet to hear back.

The good news: we still love you. The service is still exceptional. The coffee is still hot. And frankly, given everything that goes into a Chumba appointment, we think you're still getting a pretty good deal.

Nicole Krause... this makes me so happy :-)
I just needed to share this with everybody... one of my all time fav's Nicole and I were chatting on Saturday and she reminded me that I'd been cutting her hair since she was in Year 8 - I felt a bit old but very privileged! We've shared a lot of life together.

One of the incredible parts of being a hairdresser is that we get to have long term relationships with our clients - really who else gets this much time to know somebody these days?
It's one of the major perks of our job as hairdressers and all of us at Chumba just love this. Making real human connections fuels all of us everyday.

Nicole and a lot of 'kids' that first started coming to us way back then in their school days have now grown into amazing adults. Some into amazing parents who bring their children to us too!

Belle and I always feel super proud and honoured to have watched them all grow up and blossom in their lives.
Our salons are 15years old next week - moments like these are what we live for. Bring on the next 15 years :-)

I have been going to Chumba for 15 years, first in Warragul and now in Windsor. I love them and while living interstate regularly travelled home to get my hair done! Just this Saturday I had my hair cut and coloured at the Windsor Salon and I am in love! In just two days I've received tonnes of compliments and comments. Special mentioned to Ellie Elly Paynter who was responsible for my colour and is a great addition to the team and Carl who has been cutting my hair since I was in high school! But everyone in the team is great. I really appreciate how they take the time to really listen to what I want and provide great advice to make sure I am always happy with the result. In fifteen years I have never walked out of the salon feeling unhappy with my style, and I can't say that for other salons I've tried in the past. If you are looking to have a great salon experience with a friendly, experienced and creative team then I highly highly recommended Carl, Belinda and their teams at both Chumba salons.
