Did You Know?
Ackee is Jamaica's national fruit, but it is not eaten as a sweet fruit. Instead, it is prepared as a savoury ingredient and is famous as part of Jamaica's national dish, Ackee and Saltfish.
Our new C**ktail Ackee Patties celebrate the delicious flavour of ackee in a unique vegetarian recipe seasoned with authentic Jamaican herbs, spices and sauces.
Whether you are already an ackee lover or trying it for the first time, this is a delicious way to experience one of Jamaica's most treasured ingredients.

A Win for Caribbean-Australian History! π
What a pleasure to attend the 2026 NSW History Awards during History Week β and what a special moment when my friends Sienna Brown and Ben Etherington were announced as winners of the Digital History Prize for History Lab: Caribbean Echoes.
The award-winning episodes tell the stories of two remarkable Caribbean-Australians β champion boxer Peter Jackson and pioneering cabaret performer Nellie Small.
Through research, interviews and creative storytelling, Caribbean Echoes brings these little-known stories to life and helps ensure that the contributions of Caribbean people are recognised as part of Australia's history.
I was so excited to see Sienna and Ben receive this recognition. After all, Caribbean-Australian history is Australian history.
Congratulations Sienna, Ben and everyone involved! ππΎ

Time Poor? Cook Once, Enjoy It Again
When I am time poor and faced with that familiar question, βWhatβs for dinner?β, I consider my options: takeaway, something quick like a shake-and-pan-fried fish fillet, or a meal I prepared earlier and froze.
On Wednesday, I decided it was time to replenish my freezer with a big pot of soup.
Out came my largest pot! I browned some chicken wing tips, then added a generous selection of vegetables: pumpkin, sweet potato, potato, bok choy, okra, eggplant, cabbage, broccoli and zucchini.
Then came the Jamaican touch: three packets of C**k Soup Mix, along with cornmeal dumplings.
The result? Three servings to enjoy straight away and four double-zipper bags of soup for the freezer.
Now, when the question βWhatβs for dinner?β comes up on a busy day, I already have an answer.
Sometimes, a little cooking ahead makes life that much easier. π―π²π²
