Becoming a mum completely changed the way I showed up in my business.

Before Alaska, it was my McDonald’s job and my business that I had to juggle. But my business mattered more to me so if I wanted to work less at Macca’s and more in my business, I could. And I did.

Then I became a mum, and suddenly I was juggling two things that were equally as important to me: my daughter and my business.

I didn’t want to give up either, so I had to change the way I ran my business to make room for both.

I’ve never been more grateful to have something that could grow and change with me through every season of motherhood.

And now I want to help other mums create that for themselves too. The mums who want something of their own, but also know just how quickly this time with their babies goes.

Because mums shouldn't have to pick one.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with working a 9–5, having a boss or loving the career you’re already in.

BUT I also know there are mums out there who want something different.

Something that’s theirs.

Something they can build around their babies, their family and the season of life they’re in instead of constantly trying to make their life fit around work.

And that’s the part of having my own business I’ll never stop being grateful for.

I can choose my hours. I can be there for the important things. I can grow my income without needing someone else to decide what I’m worth. And after a few days away, I genuinely look forward to coming back to work.

Is running a business around motherhood always easy? Absolutely fking not 😂

But it’s given me something I wanted more than anything:

A career that fulfils me and the freedom to be present for my family.

And if there’s a little part of you reading this thinking I want that too…

Maybe that feeling is worth listening to. 🤍

Being a mum and running a business is not a walk in the park by any means but it’s the path I choose to walk because both of these things set my soul on fire. 🫶🏽

How lucky am I to have two things I care so deeply about?

Motherhood didn’t take away my ambition. If anything, it gave it more meaning.

I want to build something I’m proud of, but now I have little eyes watching me do it. Watching me back myself, work hard, chase big ideas and create a life that gives us more freedom.

Some days it feels like motherhood and business are pulling me in two different directions. Other days I realise they’re the exact reason I keep pushing forward.

It’s definitely not easy. But I wouldn’t trade either of them for an easier life.
