RockTape is a popular brand name for Kinesiology Tape (KT) it was developed by a Japanese doctor in 1970.
KT differs from the stiff athletic tape that you may be familiar with, which is often applied by a physiotherapist in the initial phases of injury treatment. This rigid tape locks the joint and its musculature in place which is just what you need to prevent further injury.
KT tape differs in the fact it is elastic and allows the body to move through its natural range of motion. After the acute phase of injury, rehabilitation of movement and strength is required to return to pre-injury function and form. The rehabilitation process can be supported and enhanced with the use of KT.
The elasticity of KT tape microscopically lifts the top layer of skin from the under-lying tissues which increases blood circulation and assists with the drainage lymphatic fluids, thereby decreasing edema and inflammation. Although the tape is elastic, it does also, with the right tension, provide a sense of stability and protection for joints such as at the knee and ankle.
This gentle lift of the skin may also decrease the pressure on pain receptors providing temporary pain relief. My clients have described it as a 'gentle hug' opposed to the rigid restraint of athletic tape. By provideing gentle sensory stimulation to nerve and propreceptor receptors in the skin KT benefits may also include helping to facilitate underactive muscles while inhibiting overactive muscles to help create balance in chronic overused areas. This helps to restore correct functional movement patterns.
Some of the inductions I have used RockTape for include...
* Swelling of ankles from sprains
* Odema of arms post breast cancer surgery
* Reducing 'Corks' from impact injury during sports
* Postural support/training for spinal tension
* RSI of wrists
* Pregnant belly support
* Sciatica type pain
* Shin splints
* Knee pain
* neck and shoulder strains
* Digestive bloating
* the list of potential uses is endless....
KT can be self applied with RockTape providing an instructional pamphlet for common injury sites. I find Pinterest to be a get resource on application techniques.

'Smashed Avo & Goat Cheese on top of Zucchini Waffles'
I have an abundance of Zucchini in my garden at present. Did you know they are just baby Marrow. Forget to pick them for a day or two and you have a thigh size Marrow! Courgettes are the same thing and the common name for baby Marrow in England.
Zucchini is a nutritional gold mine containing a variety of vitamins, minerals, and beneficial plant compounds. Cooked Zucchini is particularly high in vitamin A.
Browsing Pinterest for recipe ideas made me remember my long forgotten waffle maker in the depths of the bottom cupboard. I found a nice looking gluten free recipe to try and then promptly changed everything and did it my way.
After grating a rather large Zucchini I placed it into a tea towel and wrung out all the moisture. Don't waste these precious nutrients! Pour liquid into a glass and knock it back like tequila 😁
I added 3 eggs and my total cheat which covered the flavouring and binding agent was about 1/2c of Pakora mix. Once the Waffle maker was hot I sprayed it with Olive Oil. I think I will freeze the extra so I can heat them up in the air fryer on demand.
Pakora?? You know the battered and deep fried vegetable fritters you get at an Indian restaurant... Them! You can get packets of mix which are GF, basically Chickpea Flour and Spices. Great for moments like this minus that nasty deep fryer

I like to cook up a big batch of Savoury Mince that lasts me several days with different meals options.
Here I have mixed some of the cooked Mince some Goat Cheese (from Aldi yummo!) slapped the filling into half a Capsicum cooked 20mins in the air fryer while I had a shower.
About the mince... I buy grassfed Beef Mince from (delivered to my door) that has Beef Liver added to it to increase the nutritional value of the meal without having to eat and taste that yucky Liver.
I saute plenty of Onion and Garlic (excellent probiotic fibre for your gut if you are not sensitive) in Coconut Oil for the MCTs. Then added and brownedCollegen off the Mince. Add a jar or Organic Spicy Tomato Pasta Sauce. Salt & Pepper and Herbs of your choice. Chilli???
Now I get a wee bit tricky... I buy a big container of mixed dried Mushrooms such as Sh*take, Oyster etc and blend them into a powder (kept in an airtight jar) to add to recipes such as this for a flavor and nutritional boost. I also added a scoop of Collagen Powder. A half of cup of Seed Mix (H**p, Sunflower, Pumpkin and Chia) also found its way into the pan. 😁
Drop me a comment and let me know what else would you add.

Using cups to treat the symptoms of plantar Fasciitis has proven to be a great strategy. Clients report that the pain on standing is greatly reduced after only one treatment and several have reported complete reversal of their condition after only 3 treatments.
The cups work to relax and restore function to the Soleus and Gastrocsinis muscles which are major contributors to this deliberating condition. Cups on the plantar surface of the foot is a sensation not to be missed. 😁 They help to relax the many muscle under the foot as well as disperse inflammation and improve mobility to the ligament structure of the foot.

I was asked today what I do for breakfast?
Firstly we need to break the dogma around what is and isn't breakfast food. We have been so conditioned by the cereal and processed food companies that we go blank when it comes to ideas for breakfast that are outside their advertising brainwashing.
Here is what I have just finished eating at 10.46am
Yes I don't reach for food the moment I wake up!
This is NZ Orange Roughy (a deepsea, cold water, small grown fish usually processed at sea for freshness) defrosted in one hour is a container sitting in the sun as I don't own a microwave.
The crumb topping is Ground Almond, H**p, Sunflower & Pumpkin seeds mixed with fresh herbs from my garden. Grassfed organic Butter dotted over top and just 12 minutes in my wee air fryer.
On the side I have some Fermented Carrots and Fermented Tomato Salsa both homemade and stored in the fridge.
It took me 2mins to make the crumb including the trot around the garden to pick the herbs. No waiting for an oven to heat up and 30 seconds to decide which fermented foods to put on my plate from the multiple jars stored in my fridge.
Who in Perth would be interested in a workshop on Fermented Foods with tasting and recipes included?
I am thinking it would be fun to put this together.
It's always about what you put in your mouth. When I was in my mid 20s I had a serious jaw operation and had my teeth/mouth wired shut for 12 weeks. This looks like a more pain free yet just as effective way to stop food going in the mouth 🤣😂

I am having Steak and Egg for brunch? Absolutely!!
Recent research suggests that we better metabolize protein at the beginning of the day. As well you may notice that when you have a big protein meal at night your sleep is not as good as your gut works hard to digest and simulate the protein.
Most of our protein requirements are directed to Liver and Gut cellular renewal first as the cells in these organs turn over quickly in about 3 days. Where as muscle is much slower to rejuvenate so it's down the in line to recieve available protein synthesis. That's just to maintain what we have let alone make new muscle fibers in response to muscle hypertrophy exercise.
As we age our desire to eat big meals decreases, our gut usually is not functioning as well as it used to as well as teeth and chewing issues for the elderly. No wonder we see/experience muscle wastage in the older generations. As our muscle waste then our ability to move and perform muscle maintenance exercise is deminished.
Why Parsnip Chips? - because I brought them from the farm gate in Bindoon yesterday. They are also packed full of fibre, vitamins and minerals.
Tonight I will have something much lighter like an Avocado Salad or a Smoothie depending on how I feel after the 5 massages I have lined up this afternoon.

Training as a massage therapist over 22 years ago left me thinking that Instrument-assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (aka using tools) was 'cheating'. How can the therapist have control and 'feel' when using tools?
But after 22 years my poor old knuckles started telling me to start working SMARTER not HARDER!
Today I attended a course using their Blades.
I was totally blown away with not just how they will take the work load off my finger joints, wrists and arms but you really CAN 'feel' though the blade. The difference shape blades allow for different pressure, techniques and applications.
If you are keem to experience the difference these Blades will make to your massage outcomes just mention this post at time of booking and recieve a complimentary Infared Sauna or Body Composition Scan at the same time.
