20 years ago, I officially graduated as a beauty therapist 🥹
It’s actually wild to think I’ve now been in this industry for two whole decades. And yes, this certificate is about the only photographic evidence I have because camera phones weren’t really a thing yet 😂
The beauty industry has changed so much since I first became qualified. Back then, we trained as all rounder beauty therapists and were expected to do a little bit of everything. Now, we can niche down, specialise in the services we genuinely love and build an entire business around them.
I absolutely love that shift. Being able to focus on the areas you’re most passionate about means you can keep learning, refine your techniques and become so knowledgeable within your specialty.
And yes, saying I’ve been in the industry for 20 years makes me feel approximately 107 😂 But 20 years of experience definitely doesn’t mean 20-year-old skills. I’ve always made it a priority to continue learning, stay current with new techniques and trends, and allow my work to keep evolving alongside the industry.
The funny part is, even though I’ve been a beauty therapist for 20 years, it’s really only been in more recent years that I’ve started treating what I do as a genuine career and Belle‑Issa Beauty as the business it truly is, not just something I happen to be good at.
Twenty years later, I’m still learning, still evolving and probably more passionate about this industry now than I’ve ever been.
