What happens beneath the skin when firmness and elasticity begin to change?
As we age, the activity of the fibroblasts responsible for producing collagen and elastin gradually slows. Sun exposure, hormonal changes and lifestyle factors can also contribute to changes in skin firmness, elasticity and texture.
Rather than focusing only on what we see at the surface, DENSITY RF is designed to support the skin’s natural regenerative processes beneath it.
DENSITY RF is an advanced Korean radiofrequency treatment now available at our Wembley Downs and Cottesloe clinics. It combines monopolar and bipolar radiofrequency energy within a single pulse, allowing controlled heat to be delivered across different layers of the skin.
Rather than simply focusing on what is visible, the aim is to support the underlying structures that influence skin quality and firmness over time.
This reflects our approach to regenerative aesthetics and skin longevity: understanding why a concern has developed, then selecting evidence based options that suit the individual.
If you are noticing early skin laxity or considering how to support your long term skin health, book a consultation with our doctor led team to explore your options.
The face behind some of our most considered skin treatment plans: meet Ocean Cosmetics co-founder, Dr Jessica Wang.
Dr Jess has a particular interest in complex skin concerns, including acne, acne scarring, rosacea, persistent pigmentation, sun damage and solar elastosis, the visible changes that can develop after years of cumulative UV exposure.
These concerns are rarely caused by one factor alone. Inflammation, vascular changes, pigment activity, collagen loss and skin-barrier dysfunction may all influence how the skin looks, feels and responds to treatment. This is why Dr Jess takes an energy-based, multimodality approach to skin health.
Rather than relying on a single treatment, she carefully considers how different technologies and regenerative treatments may work together. This may include combining BroadBand Light (BBL) to address visible redness or pigmentation with Rejuran to support skin quality and repair.
Every plan is personalised following a thorough assessment, as the appropriate approach will vary between patients.
As one of the founders of Ocean Cosmetics, Dr Jess has helped shape our philosophy from the beginning: understand why the skin is changing before deciding how to treat it.
If you are experiencing acne scarring, rosacea, stubborn pigmentation or advanced sun damage, book a consultation with our doctor-led team to learn more about the options that may be appropriate for your skin.
BroadBand Light (BBL) has been part of our doctor-led approach at Ocean Cosmetics for over 12 years.
BroadBand Light uses controlled pulses of light to target pigment and visible blood vessels within the skin. Depending on the individual, it may be used to address concerns such as sun damage, uneven pigmentation, redness and visible capillaries.
But technology is only one part of treatment. At Ocean Cosmetics, we believe clinical experience and judgement are just as important.
Over the past 12 years, our doctors and clinicians have treated thousands of patients using BBL. This depth of experience helps us understand how different skin types may respond, how treatment settings should be carefully tailored and, importantly, when BBL may not be the most appropriate option.
Because the right treatment begins with understanding your skin, not simply choosing a device.
Book a consultation at Ocean Cosmetics to discuss your skin concerns and whether BBL may be appropriate for you.
31/07/2026
July was a month of learning, leadership and innovation at Ocean Cosmetics.
July was a meaningful month for our team, from introducing Density RF and EMFUSION® at our Cottesloe clinic to attending leading educational events and contributing to important industry conversations.
Our clinicians returned from Aesthetics 2026 with new knowledge and perspectives, while Nurse Chloe had the opportunity to share her own clinical experience with peers. Nurse Kailey continued her professional development at the JULIA Summit, exploring regenerative aesthetics and evidence-informed practice.
Dr Gina also continued her role as an industry educator, training fellow medical professionals in collagen-stimulating treatments and joining Dr Priya to discuss medical weight loss and the changing aesthetic needs patients may experience throughout their journey.
We are incredibly proud of our team.
At Ocean Cosmetics, education and professional development are part of who we are. We want every clinician to feel supported, deepen their knowledge and pursue opportunities that help them grow. This culture of learning allows us to continually refine our approach and bring thoughtful, evidence-informed care back to our patients.
While technology continues to evolve, it is the knowledge, clinical judgement and experience behind it that matter most.
Here’s to another month of learning, growing and supporting one another, and to bringing everything we learn back to our Wembley Downs and Cottesloe communities.
Significant weight loss can change the way your skin looks and behaves.
As facial fat pads reduce, whether through natural weight loss or with the support of GLP-1 medications, the skin has less structural support beneath it. For some people, this can lead to changes in skin firmness, particularly around the cheeks, jawline and neck.
While these changes are often associated with volume loss, skin quality is just as important. As we age, collagen production naturally declines, making it more difficult for the skin to adapt to changes in the underlying tissues. This is why skin laxity can become more noticeable after significant weight loss.
At Ocean Cosmetics, our doctor-led approach is to understand why these changes occur before deciding how to address them. Rather than focusing only on what is visible, we assess skin quality, collagen and facial structure to develop personalised, evidence-based treatment plans.
Ultraformer MPT may become part of that conversation. This advanced ultrasound technology works beneath the surface of the skin to stimulate your body’s natural collagen production, supporting skin firmness and quality over time.
If you’ve noticed changes in your skin following weight loss, our experienced clinicians can assess your skin and create a personalised treatment plan tailored to your goals.
