Do you have first-day Puppy School nerves?
I hear you.
Maybe you’re a first-time puppy owner and you’re wondering whether you’re doing everything right?
Perhaps you’ve had a dog in the past whose behaviour caused some concerns, and you’re determined not to travel that same path again.
Or maybe you’re simply hoping for something better than your previous Puppy School experience.
Whatever the reason, those nerves are perfectly valid. They’re also completely normal.
Most importantly, you will not be judged if your puppy is noisy, worried, distracted, bouncy or struggling to settle. Puppy School is exactly where these things are allowed to happen—because it gives our trainers the opportunity to see what you’re experiencing and guide you through what to do next.
So please don’t fear that first class.
Don’t worry that everyone will look at you and think, “They’ve got that puppy.”
Your puppy isn’t expected to arrive knowing how to behave in a new environment—and neither are you expected to have all the answers. Puppies don’t arrive as blank slates, and owners bring their own experiences, concerns and hopes with them too.
At VRS, our trainers understand this.
Whatever comes through our door, we’ll meet you and your puppy where you are and help you move forward together.
You’re not in the wrong place.
You’re exactly where you need to be. 💚💙
What if a little support could help them take the next step?
The Help ’Em Up Harness gives dogs the support they need to move safely, while still doing the work themselves.
Perfect for dogs recovering from surgery, neurological conditions, injury or simply struggling with weakness and mobility.
Because sometimes, supporting the movement is the first step towards rebuilding it. ❤️🐾

📣 PSA FOR PUPPY OWNERS
Think your puppy might be too old for Puppy School?
You may not have missed the boat after all. VRS offers a Puppy School program for older puppies—welcoming puppies up to and including 20 weeks of age.
So, if you waited until your puppy completed their vaccinations before looking for a class, there may still be an opportunity for them to enjoy the learning, confidence-building, musculoskeletal conditioning and carefully guided social experiences our Puppy School provides.
No puppy should miss out on Puppy School simply because of their vaccination preferences.
To find out more, call Colleen on 0415 136 777 and let her know you have an older puppy.

We’re delighted to welcome Boba, Riley and their families to the VRS Puppy School program. We can’t wait to watch them learn and grow over the coming weeks. 💚💙

Last Saturday marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for VRS—one built firmly around prevention.
For Adrian, Yoko and the entire VRS team, the launch of VRS Puppy School represents something very special: the opportunity to support puppies and their families before problems arise, not only after an injury, mobility concern or developmental issue becomes apparent.
This unique program was developed collaboratively by Colleen O'Dea of Manners ’n’ More Dog Training and Simone Tuten of Simone Tuten Positive Pets – Dog & Horse Behaviour Consultant, with the support and specialist knowledge of Adrian, Yoko and the VRS team.
Colleen and Simone are both highly experienced and respected professionals in puppy development and education. Their combined training expertise, coupled with VRS’s extensive experience in mobility, movement and rehabilitation, has created a Puppy School program with a genuinely distinctive approach.
This is about far more than teaching puppies a few basic skills. It is about helping owners understand their puppy’s behaviour, development, movement and individual needs from the very beginning.
Adrian, Yoko and the entire VRS team understand deeply that prevention matters. Early detection, early guidance and early support provide the strongest possible foundation for a puppy and their family as they begin what we hope will be the next 15 wonderful years of life together.
This is not simply Puppy School.
It is an investment in your puppy’s future—and the entire VRS team is incredibly excited to have welcomed its very first puppies and families through the doors.

✈️ This week, Yoko and Kara had the pleasure of travelling to Sydney to lecture at VetExpo sharing their knowledge and passion for veterinary rehabilitation with fellow veterinary professionals. 🎓
Speaking about two areas that are incredibly important in rehabilitation:
💪 Muscle pain: understanding where it comes from, how to recognise it, and how we can help our patients move more comfortably.
🧠 Neurological rehabilitation: supporting patients with neurological conditions to regain function, strength and confidence.
We love being able to share what we do, connect with other veterinary professionals, and help bring rehabilitation into more conversations across the veterinary industry.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended, listened, asked questions and shared their experiences with us! ❤️

🎓✨ Happy Graduation, Buddy!✨🎓
What a little superstar! 🐾❤️
Buddy first came to see us when his owner noticed restricted movement and a roached posture. As we know, Dachshunds can be predisposed to spinal problems, so recognising these changes early and getting on top of them is incredibly important.
During Buddy’s assessment, we found spinal pain and osteoarthritis, which gave us some clear areas to work on.
And just look at him now! 🥹💪
Buddy absolutely *loved* his strengthening exercises — and, as you can see, he is one very well-trained little man! His hard work, combined with his owner’s dedication, has helped him become stronger, more comfortable and more confident in his movement.
We’re so proud of you, Buddy! 🎓🐶
