Biggest nail change for myself in a while. Long almond to short square natural n**e nails! Still adjusting to the different feel and picking things up. I've had the same shape for so long it feels weird to feel my fingertips 😅🤪💖💅🏼

13 years qualified as a nail technician today! I never imagined starting a side hustle would still be going all these years later. I never imagined teaching and nails as my 2 jobs! I have so many amazing long term clients and supporters who make this job fun and enjoyable.

Just a reminder as the weather gets colder keep up the daily cuticle oil use. Hand creams dont pe*****te nails and cuticles. A good quality cuticle oil soaks into the nail plate, surrounding skin and cuticles. Keeping your product flexible and lasting longer.

This isn't new but I'm glad it's getting attention. Ive been a nail tech for over 12 years and we have continually advocated for oversight and standards in the business.
There is no requirement for training or certification. No ABN or insurance. Even when a client is injured and reports it very little happens.
Every shopping centre has 1 or more nail bars with unqualified staff unaware of the products they use and the dangers of their services.

Choosing who provides your service is an important first step. Ask the questions, check the materials and protect yourself.

Perth woman Kyla Willcox has spent a week in hospital after developing sepsis in one of her big toes.

She developed the infection shortly after a pedicure during which the skin on her toe was scrubbed vigorously with a pumice stone.

"When they drained my toe, it was so full of pus and everything. They said if it's in the bone, that will have to be amputated," Ms Willcox told Nadia Mitsopoulos on 102.5 ABC Perth.

She is concerned that the nail salon instruments were not properly sterilised and is calling for greater regulation of the sector.
