I have seen a lot of new faces in clinic recently so I thought I would re-introduce myself 👋 Everyone who knows me knows I am a chronic over-sharer so here we go…

My name is Selby, I am the proud owner of The Face Base (formerly known as Selby Aesthetics.)
I grew up on a 7000acre grain and sheep farm 3 hours inland from Perth and came here to boarding school when I was 11.

Little 17 year old me dreamt of being a nurse, and when I started working in the hospital I very quickly realised it wasn’t for me. Fast forward to now, I have been a full time cosmetic injector for 11 years and a business owner for 5 of those years!! (Wow that makes me feel old but proud 🥹).

Being a business owner was never something that was in my long term plan but alas here we are, and boy oh boy what a journey it has been.

The sheer amount of learning curves I have been through in the last 5 years is something I cannot even explain. The amount of sacrifice, tears, doubts, crippling anxiety & panic attacks and just plain questioning of what I had gotten myself into.

It has not been (and probably won’t ever be) easy being a business owner. But I will tell you one thing for free- it is worth it. For the beautiful patients I get to see every day, for the staff I get to teach and share my knowledge with, for the flexibility it has given me in many aspects of my life. The list goes on.

So here we are, 5 years deep into a journey I hope lives on for years to come. If you have been to The Face Base, you will understand I treat everyone like family and I expect my staff to do the same. For you to feel welcomed, heard and at ease.

It goes without saying but I cannot thank you enough for your support🤎

My baby (The Face Base) turns 3 today 🥹

I had been told that the 2nd year of business is the hardest and if I am being honest, that was a HUGE understatement.
The last 12 months for me have been so so challenging, personally and professionally and I had a lot of days that made me question why I was doing it.

Being a business owner can look glamorous on social media, but let me tell you it is by far the hardest thing I have ever done. But the love I have for my job and for my patients means that I kept showing up.

It’s showing up when things get hard and you don’t think you can do it anymore.

But you know what, I would do it all over again knowing it would make me the resilient, strong, supportive and driven woman I am today.

Without any of you, The Face Base wouldn’t exist. It is so much more than a cosmetic clinic, and if you have been here you would understand that 🫶🏽

So here is to many more years of The Face Base, and I can’t wait to bring you all along for the ride 🤎🤎🤎

Considering we can’t really post much about what we do at The Face Base ( 💉), I thought I would share some of the things that I can’t go without during summer especially! 🫶🏽

I am back in clinic next week after a much needed break so thought I would share a few holiday snaps 📸
My break consisted of lots of family & friend time, some beautiful sunsets, yummy food, a little bit of admin, and going to the beach nearly every day ☀️
I can’t wait to see what 2026 has in store for myself and , with some exciting things in the pipelines 🫶🏽

But it is so much more than that, patients have come in here and cried, laughed, felt excited, felt anxious, felt sad and felt happy, all whilst feeling comfortable enough with me to do so. And this is why I do what I do.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank every single person who has supported myself and The Face Base. It means more than you will ever know.
