Here are some of the things to look for if you are getting a tattoo done - on your face.
1. Picking the right person is crucial.🤓
Please don’t go to a tattoo artist to get your brows done. You also want to make sure the person you are going to has experience with darker skin. Make sure to ask your brow specialist for photos of their clients, especially photos taken after the brows have healed.
2. Never, never get black ink.⛔️
It’s instinct to go for the darkest ink option when working on dark skin, but that’s a big mistake because black looks gray once it heals! Instead, we match our pigments to the natural color of our clients' brows, my darkest shade option is ebony brown.
3. Undertones also come into play. 🎨
If you have yellow undertones, we use pigment with cooler tones. If you have a lot of blue in the skin, we use warmer tones.
4. Ask for a touch-up session. 🖌
Different people metabolize pigment differently, which can lead to brows looking warmer or cooler once they heal. The touch up session is when we correct that.
5. Hyperpigmentation can happen — here’s how to prevent it. 📝
Any time you do anything on brown skin, there is potential for hyperpigmentation. So it’s important to do it in the right hands, and have really good sun protection afterwards.

People get tattooed all year round, but there are several reasons why winter is the best time to get tattooed!
- It’s easier and more comfortable to heal your tattoo.
- No sweat, cover ups and heat rashes. Itchiness is also subdued.
- Exposure to UV rays will permanently damage your tattoo, and fresh, healing tattoos are particularly sensitive to the sun.
- It won’t impact your summer extra curricular activities.
- You cannot swim or submerge your healing tattoo in water for at least 10-14 days. That means no ocean, no pool, no bath, no spas, no whirlpool bath, no surfing, no scuba, no free diving, no jet skiing, no synchronised swimming, you get my point. That’s a lot of fun summer water activities that are off the table! So get tattooed in winter, and don’t miss out on any of it!
- Cosmetic tattoo artists are quieter in winter.
- Your new tattoo will be fully healed by summer. You will be ready to shown off your new look once you are again out and about doing all your summer activities!
