Blood glucose level (BGL) targets are wider in elderly people for a reason. Do not expect your old mother to maintain strict BGL ranges. You will just cause them stress and worsen the numbers. Be realistic. For frail old people. Fasting BGL can go up to 8/9/10 mmols/l. The numbers will get worse with age and dependence.
