Soufrise Perfume. A natural perfume, really. A halo of effervescent green from Bergamot and Yuzu, Lemon and Clary Sage. Then nestled snuggly in the heart is Neroli and Osmanthus. A 30% perfume that holds and lasts, lingering on a favourite jumper for days and days.

Lauren and I, the hands that formulate and make what you love. From an idea to formula to small test batches to trials to a larger batch and continuous observation to see if we can make it better in the first 12 months of a products life. We also have another two on our team but they are a bit shy with photos. The four of us with our different areas manage to make all that’s in your homes , keep this space pristine, get online orders away, take photos and videos, write emails, send out orders, order in all our glass and raw ingredients and plan the year. To think it used to be just me. Thanks team, especially you Lauren. It would have been a lonely photo if you said no to a photo too 😂

Hydrating? What does it really mean? “Hydra” - water. In skincare it means water. Either introducing it or trapping it. Introducing it via materials that hold onto lots of water. Hyaluronates do this. As does urea and lactates and glycerins. In the synthetic world co polymers do it very well too. Hyaluronates and co polymers make lovely refreshing gels of varying viscosities. Hyaluronates your body makes itself and co polymers are man made. These materials bind onto large amounts of water keeping an area more wet. So this is how a serum like our Hydrating Serum works, without the co polymers anyhow. Our Rectifying Serum does it using Urea and Lactates to bind the water though to a less extent and they do not make thick gels. Though they are essential components in the skin so often they address a fundamental deficiency. So we have water re introduced to the skin. What now? For many of us we need to trap that water there. Making a water resistant covering on the surface of the skin keeps all that water held in the skin. Clearly doing this with some materials would feel suffocating and uncomfortable but with oils, waxes and fats that share the same profile that your skin makes the result is comfort, softness and finally Hydration. Your skin being naturally oily tries to do this itself. It is fundamentally why it is oily. But oil levels fluctuate throughout life and even daily. So we mimic them as best we can. And we mimic well, well indeed. So introduce the water first. Trap it in afterwards. Hydrating Serum followed by Resplendent. Or Hydrating Serum followed by Luminous. Or if rough dry skin is lifting and visible use Rectifying then Resplendent or Rectifying then Luminous.

We have just released our new Bath & Shower Oil. An oil that becomes water soluble when in the bath or shower. Why? So you can clean with oils but be able to rinse them away. Less drying than foaming washes less oily feel than just an oil.massage over skin and rinse or add directly to water. This scent is fresh but delicate with enough warmth to make it smell soft. Made with a broad selection of plant oils to deliver the fatty acid profiles and poly phenols I wanted. My apologies it is only in stores currently and not on the website yet. Will be a few more days. Anyhow it’s perfect for this time of year when you’re all melting what oils you naturally have away with hot showers. 😁

For International Cat Day. I am a cat lover. This is Hercules (black) and the brother we decided he needed, Cheeto. Hercules is quiet, observant, considered and close. Cheeto skittish, impulsive, determined. I’m not sure yet it’s been a good match but certainly I don’t think Hercules is lonely anymore. This is my first time having a ginger cat. My daughter’s decision where we thought we’d just laugh at the reputation they have. The reputation is correct so far. Hercules quietly selects his food and needs consistency and predictability. Cheeto is the family Hoover and approaches food skidding so fast he has all legs splayed outwards to stop. He can be incredibly affectionate but only at night when you go to bed. It is curious to see their bond develop. Certainly Cheeto wants to be friends. I do see behaviors between the two of them that I recall seeing often between big and little brothers in my sons. Hercules may act like he does not want Cheeto here but he always has his ears turned toward him and chooses to rest close by him. Hercules is six and Cheeto yet to turn one so their behaviors are bound to be different. Cheeto already is a chunky chonk so I really need to work on his food obsessions. Is right that I do enjoy him being a chunky chonk? Hercules will be wherever I am. Working on my laptop he’s on my lap or walking across the laptop as I move from side to side to see the screen. He always greets me at the door. In fact he knows family members are arriving well before we hear their car. So these are my two companions and I love them dearly and am always amazed at how well we understand each other.

Soon we’ll be offering a personal essential oil blending service where we build a blend from things you tell us you love. Scents constructed from your favourite places to visit, or things that make you happy, scents from memories and places you long to be or people you have held dear. Last night at production was our first time putting ideas into practice and it was wonderful for me to see all my staff enjoy the process so much. There’ll be more on this soon.

Perhaps today is for your legs? If my face and my legs were siblings they would not get on. One does all the heavy lifting yet is considerably uncared for. The other very well cared for, doesn’t do any heavy lifting and gets all the attention. The irony is plain to see yet we all are complicit. So today…….at the least, use your Body Cream and actually take the time to really massage it in. The movement of your hands over the skin, particularly for legs that can suffer by being so far from the heart, has a regenerative effect that costs you nothing. If you have HydraLac and many of you do, today is the day. You know it’s so easy to apply, in fact I’d say you like applying it as the effect is so immediate. You can apply Body Cream afterwards to get some good oils back into the skin and build up that natural waterproof barrier the skin should have. While doing this everyday would be wonderful for your legs, perhaps try to do it again at least by Wednesday. Sorry legs. Hey face……shall we buy a new lipstick today?

Waiting for this special little balm to cool and solidify. This is for mums who are breastfeeding. We’ve made it to help you have an easier time. Made so you can be relaxed about feed times instead of bracing yourself for pain. This balm is soft enough to be handled with one hand. Very emollient so it stays well. Has lots of Calendula and Vit E to be properly helpful. Soothing, protective, softening, lasting and as you would expect from us safe for feeding babies. Completely natural meaning no synthetic ingredients at all. No fragrance added other than the scent of the raw ingredients themselves. Ni**le Balm is a little savior nestled in a small black tin.
