Gut health gets talked about a LOT.

Usually somewhere between bloating and whatever supplement is trending this week.

But your gut is doing far more than simply digesting your lunch.

It helps absorb nutrients, houses trillions of microorganisms and communicates with systems throughout the body. It also plays a role in immune and metabolic health.

So yes, what’s happening in your gut matters.
Not because it’s responsible for everything — it isn’t.

But because gut health is part of metabolic health.

And that’s a conversation we’re going to have a little more often around here.

I ask a ridiculous amount of questions.

Always have.

If someone tells me something is amazing, revolutionary, or the next big thing, my first response is usually...

Why?

Followed by approximately seventeen more questions. 😏

What’s in it? How does it work? What’s the evidence? Who is it actually for? What are the limitations? And would I genuinely feel comfortable putting my name behind it?

I’m probably every supplier’s favourite person.
Or their worst nightmare.

But after thirteen years, I’ve learnt that a good sales pitch and a good product aren’t necessarily the same thing.

There is a lot happening behind The Metabolic Studio at the moment. I’m researching, asking questions, having conversations and looking very carefully at what belongs in the next chapter of the studio.

Some things excite me.

Some things sound fantastic until I start asking questions.

And some things simply aren’t right for us.

Curious? Always. Easily convinced? Not so much.

There’s fasting. And then there’s starving yourself and calling it fasting.

They’re not the same thing.

Fasting can be done poorly. So can calorie restriction. If you’re continually eating too little, it can become difficult to get enough protein, energy and nutrients to support your body — including maintaining valuable muscle.

The goal isn’t to see how little you can eat.

It’s to lose weight with structure, good nutrition and a plan for what happens next.

Under-fuelling isn’t a metabolic strategy.

“I want firmer skin.”

Fair request. But we’re going to need collagen.

As we age, collagen production naturally slows.

Skin can gradually lose some of its firmness and resilience, texture changes, and fine lines become more noticeable.

Good skin ageing isn’t about trying to recreate the skin you had at 25.

It’s about improving the quality of the skin you have now.

At The Metabolic Studio, we start with the result you want, assess what’s happening in your skin, and then choose the treatment approach that makes sense for your skin.

Because “firmer skin” isn’t a treatment.
It’s the goal.

Want firmer, stronger, healthier-looking skin?

Weight loss doesn’t need more noise.

It needs better questions.

How fast can I lose it?
What’s everyone else doing?
What’s the latest thing?

Fair questions. Especially right now.

But after 13 years in weight management, I’m MORE INTERESTED in these:

Am I losing weight in a healthy way?
Am I protecting my muscle and bone?
What happens when the weight comes off?
And how am I going to keep it off?

Weight management is having quite the moment. I’m all for the conversation.

I just want us asking better questions.

Weight management is having a bit of a hot minute.

It seems to be everywhere now.

For me, it’s been thirteen years.

And in thirteen years, I’ve watched this space change enormously.

I’ve watched approaches come and go. I’ve seen people lose weight, regain it, come back years later and start again. I’ve also changed my own thinking along the way — because experience should change the way you practise.

So I’ll admit, I have mixed feelings watching weight management suddenly become a space that businesses from almost every corner of the health, fitness, beauty and wellness world seem eager to move into.

More conversation, more research and more options can absolutely be a good thing.

But weight management is more than an opportunity to expand a service menu.

There are real people, real health considerations and, importantly, what happens after the weight comes off.

Thirteen years certainly hasn’t given me all the answers.

What it has given me is a healthy respect for the responsibility that comes with this work — and an understanding that losing the weight is only part of the story.

I’m still learning.
I’m just not new to the conversation.

Your lymphatic system is about far more than “detox.”

Yes, it helps collect excess fluid and cellular waste from your tissues. But that’s only part of its job.

It also plays an important role in fluid balance and immune function — transporting lymph, immune cells and material from the tissues through lymph nodes, where immune surveillance takes place.

It’s a complex system working throughout your body every day.

Lymphatic therapy is designed to encourage the movement of lymph and excess fluid through this system — which is why clients often book when they’re experiencing puffiness, fluid retention, heaviness or simply want to support healthy lymphatic flow.

So no, lymphatic health isn’t a detox trend.

It’s an important part of how your body functions.

Curious about lymphatic therapy? Book a session at The Metabolic Studio and experience it for yourself.

Sometimes you need to pick up something heavier than your serum. 😉

We spend a lot of time talking about what we put on our skin. But healthy ageing doesn’t start and finish in the bathroom.

Regular exercise — including resistance training — supports muscle health, circulation and the way our bodies age. And there’s some interesting research emerging around exercise and ageing skin too.

Does that mean ditch the SPF, good skincare or clinical treatments? Absolutely not.

It simply means skin health is bigger than a bottle.

Move your body. Build your strength. Protect your skin. Treat it well.

That’s my kind of ageing well.

The stack is not the program.

And this is an important distinction.

A supplement can support appetite. Another may help with food noise. Others may have a role in nutritional support, energy or maintaining adequate intake during weight loss.

But putting several good supplements together doesn’t automatically create a good weight-management program.

There still needs to be a strategy behind them.

What are we trying to achieve?
Why is this being used?
When does it change?
And what happens after the weight comes off?

That’s where the real work is.

Nutrition. Active weight loss. Stabilisation. Maintenance. And targeted support that changes as the goal changes.

Over the past few months, I’ve been bringing these pieces together into the next evolution of weight management at The Metabolic Studio.

The Metabolic Method.

I’ll be sharing more about that soon.

For now, remember this:

You don’t build a weight-management program around supplements.

You build the supplements around the program.

Hormones get blamed for a lot.

Sometimes fairly. Sometimes… not so much.

But pretending they’re irrelevant isn’t particularly helpful either.

Through perimenopause and menopause, hormonal changes can influence how your body responds — including changes in weight and body composition, skin, and how you feel in your body.

That doesn’t mean every change is hormonal. And it certainly doesn’t mean we throw our hands in the air and blame menopause.

It means the approach that worked beautifully at 30 may need adjusting at 45, 50 or 60.

Change isn’t an excuse. It’s information.

And the more we understand the body we have now, the better we can support it.

Sam 😘
