ANZAC DAY 2026

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.”

Today we pause to commemorate the men, women, families, loved ones, colleagues and service animals who have served Australia and New Zealand in war, conflict, peacekeeping and humanitarian operations, both at home and abroad.

We remember those who gave their lives, those who returned home forever changed, those who continue to serve, and the families and communities who carry the weight of that service beside them.

For my Grandfather who served in the Australian Army, my Great Uncle who served in the Royal Australian Navy, and my loved ones who have served and serve today.

ANZAC DAY 2026 // A quiet guide to showing respect, online and in real life.

ANZAC Day began with the landing of Australian and New Zealand forces at Gallipoli in 1915, and has since grown into a national day of remembrance for all Australians and New Zealanders who have served and died in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

ANZAC Day is not a celebration. It is a day to pause, reflect and honour sacrifice.

In an age where so much of life is shared online, respect is also about choosing the right tone for the moment. What we post, what we say and what we choose not to centre matters.

For some people, ANZAC Day can also bring up grief, trauma, sadness or difficult memories - especially for veterans, current serving members, families and those remembering loved ones.
