· PATIENT STORY — headaches
41 year old male :
Two to three headaches a week for over a year, always starting at the base of the skull and finishing behind the right eye.
Classic cervicogenic pattern.
We worked the suboccipitals and upper cervical soft tissue, added needling, and gave him a daily two-minute routine.
Six weeks in, he's down to about one headache a month. He told me he'd stopped keeping Nurofen in the car — that's the outcome that mattered to him.

Not all headaches come from your head.
A big proportion of the headaches I see start in the neck — upper cervical joints and the muscles around them referring pain up and over the skull.
Treat the neck, and the head often follows.

Daylight savings:
Clocks went forward. Your body clock didn't get the memo.
Expect a rough few nights — and remember that poor sleep turns the volume up on everything that was already niggling.

PATIENT STORY — low back injury , tradie.
47, tiler.
Bent over to pick up a bag of adhesive and "the back went".
Couldn't straighten for two days.
Nothing dramatic on assessment — irritated tissue and a lot of protective guarding.
Early gentle movement, hands-on work to settle the guarding, then a graded return to lifting.
Back on the tools in nine days, and now he does five minutes targeted corrective exercises before work, that he swears he'll keep doing.
Consistency and a planned approach is so important in your overall health and wellness.

School holidays hit different if you're a parent.
More lifting, more carrying, less sleep, no routine.
If your back's been talking to you this week, that's why — and it's not a sign anything's broken.

Footy Fest!
Grand final weekend is over.
Somewhere out there a person who hasn't run since last September has played half time hero or kick-to-kick in the backyard and didn’t warm up.
If that’s you, we will see you at the clinic this week. To get you back on track 👌

It starts with questions.
Before the table, there's a conversation.
What you do, how it started, what makes it worse, what you've already tried.
Half the answer is usually in the history — the hands just confirm it.

Recovery is part of training!
The adaptation happens between sessions, not during them.
Sleep, food and load management do more for your progress than any extra set ever will.
Train hard, but recover on purpose.

PATIENT STORY —
54 year old , works in project management.
Came in with eight months of right-sided neck and shoulder tension, worse by Thursday every week, headaches two or three times a fortnight.
Assessment showed a locked-up upper trap and levator, a stiff mid-back, and a monitor sitting about 15cm too low.
Six sessions of hands-on work and needling, plus two exercises and a monitor riser.
He's now going weeks without a headache and says he doesn't notice his shoulders anymore. Which is exactly the goal — you shouldn't notice them.

UPPER TRAPS ARE NOT THE ENEMY!
That rock-hard band across the top of your shoulders isn't a bad muscle. It's a muscle doing overtime because something else clocked off — usually the deep neck flexors and the lower traps. We chase the loud one, then teach the quiet ones to speak up.
