THE FOUNDATIONS OF A GREAT TEAM
As a team, we work hard on making sure we’re always learning and improving as therapists.
One of the ways we do this is holding regular, in-house training sessions and discussions about different assessment and treatment techniques.
We believe in supporting and collaborating with each other to lift each other up so we can better treat our patients.
One of the things we often hear from patients is how lucky they are to have found a place where they know they could see any one of our therapists and know they’re going to get a great outcome.
To book your next treatment, head over to our online bookings at www.healthwisetherapies.com.au or call reception on 03 5975 7867

ARCHLINE FOOTWEAR
A Summer staple
Our feet are our foundation. How your sit can determine the quality of your movement, posture and balance.
Poor foot and ankle biomechanics can cause musculoskeletal issues up the chain.
This can result in knee, hip and/or low back pain.
We chose Archline as they are specially designed alongside Podiatrists and Physiotherapists to ensure they create a product that properly supports your foot.
With warmer weather approaching, our clinic often see patients complaining of foot pain and a flare up of Plantar Fasciitis type pain as we transition to summer footwear.
This is why proper, supportive footwear is so important
Ask your therapists if Archline is right for you.
Stock is available at reception

• ROTATOR CUFF TEAR •
What is your Rotator Cuff?
It’s made up of four seperate muscles called:
Supraspinatus
Infraspinatus
Subscapularis
Teres Minor
Together they work to rotate and stabilise the shoulder joint
What is a Rotator Cuff tear?
A tear is when one or more of these muscles (usually the Supraspinatus) has torn to some extent at the tendon that attaches to the top of humerus (the bone for your upper arm)
Tears can be graded as small (grade 1) to major (grade 3)
Symptoms:
Pain around the shoulder
Pain when lifting - especially lifting away from your body
Weakness in the arm
Crackling when the shoulder moves
So what can Remedial Massage / Myotherapy do to help?
Reduce further tension on the muscle and tendon
Reduce pain and tension from compensation movements and muscle guarding
Prescribe home exercises to rehabilitate torn muscles
For injuries like this we would also recommend Red LED Light Therapy and Photobiomodulation (Cold Laser) for rapid healing

• WHAT IS DRY NEEDLING? •
Dry needling involves the use of solid, single-use, filiform needles that are inserted into taut bands of muscle fibres (trigger points)
The needles are gently inserted into the muscle belly and/or trigger point for a short period of time before being removed
What does Dry Needling do?
Research suggests that dry needling can help with reducing pain sensitivity by braking the pain cycle often associated with chronic pain
Research also suggests dry needling can help by reducing inflammation and improve blood flow locally to the affected area
Reference:
How can Dry Needling help me?
Reducing pain and sensitivity can help create a safe space for the muscles to move easier
This allows for more long term goals like improving over all strength, mobility and function
What does Dry Needling feel like?
- A slight sting or pinch
- Some heaviness or deep ache as the needle is inserted into the muscle/trigger point
- There may be a sudden contraction of the muscle called a local twitch response. This is considered normal and a good sign!
Find out from your therapist how dry needling can be used during your treatment!

RUNNERS KNEE
aka Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome
What is it?
Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome is pain that is felt at
the front of the knee typically around
the knee cap (patella)
Your patella sits inside the tendon of your quadriceps muscles in and glides along a small groove in the front of your thigh bone (femur)
Tight, overused muscles around the knee can cause the patella to move outside this groove causing pain
Symptoms include:
Pain when kneeling or squatting
Pain walking up or down stairs
Pain when sitting with bent knee for extended periods
Pain is worse when trying to increase activities like running
Causes:
Tightness or weakness in the muscles around the knee (particularly your quadriceps)
Sudden increase in activity level without proper training
Poor running or jumping form
Your therapist can assess your movements and the muscles around the area to determine the potential cause of your knee pain
Followed by using soft tissue release techniques on the muscles around the knee and a comprehensive home exercise plan
Book in by calling reception on 5975 7867 or online at www.healthwisetherapies.com.au
