Yesterday I had the opportunity to attend an exclusive education and training session with CXCosmetics and Juv'ae | Advancing Cosmetic Nurses, Together focusing on the science of skin quality and biorevitalisation.
We had the privilege of learning from Dr Zunaid Alli exploring skin ageing, hyaluronic acid, fibroblast activity, collagen and elastin production, and the role of the extracellular matrix in maintaining healthy skin.
We also spent time looking at clinical considerations, treatment planning and how different approaches may be considered across different areas of the face and body.
I really enjoyed the balance of science and practical learning, alongside some brilliant people in the industry.
Another valuable addition to the toolkit, with plenty to bring back into clinic.
A day out of clinic and back into learning.
Today was spent in the city getting to know SkinCeuticals and Skinbetter Science in more depth, learning from some brilliant people in the industry and finishing the day by trying some of the products and protocols for myself.
Lots learnt, a few new favourites found, and plenty I’m looking forward to bringing back into clinic.
Sunshine, skincare and a day in the city. Mondays don’t get much better than that.
Father’s Day gifting, sorted.
A little time out, good skin and something he probably wouldn’t book for himself.
Facials available at Saint Kaliya, South Melbourne.
The face reads in thirds. Upper, mid and lower, each one influencing how the others are seen.
That’s why balance is what people often notice first, and why an assessment looks at the whole face rather than one area alone.
If you’re curious about your own facial proportions, we can explore them together during a consultation.

Significant weight loss can be life-changing for many reasons. Along with changes to the body, it’s not uncommon to notice changes in the face as well.
Whether weight loss has occurred through lifestyle changes, bariatric surgery or GLP-1 medications, reduced facial volume can alter the way the face is supported and framed. For some people, this can make facial features appear more defined, while others notice they look more tired or less like themselves despite feeling healthier.
Assessment can be valuable before, during or after significant weight loss. Understanding how facial support is changing allows for informed decisions about whether any intervention is appropriate, and if so, the right timing.

Facial support changes over time.
Ageing, genetics and changes in facial volume can all influence the way the face is supported. Weight loss may also contribute, as a reduction in facial fat can alter the structural support of the face.
As these changes occur, facial proportions may also change, sometimes creating a more hollow, tired or less defined appearance.
Understanding these structural changes is an important part of assessment, as they often influence the most appropriate management plan.

Rejuran has definitely been one of the most talked about treatments this year, and for good reason!
If it’s been on your radar lately, a personalised consultation is always the best place to start.
