So Victoria Police have been handed new directions on dealing with young offenders, including the option of having a little chat and taking no further action.

The timing of this is absolutely unbelievable.
We’ve literally just watched six alleged offenders shut down the bloody Monash Freeway over two stolen cars they didn’t earn, didn’t pay for and had no right to take. Then one of the mothers reportedly comes out saying how terrible it was watching her son being treated like that.

Mate, imagine how terrible it was for everyone else caught up in that circus.

Today we’ve learnt that charges against the 12-year-old accused of involvement in the attack on Sunshine shopkeeper Van Viet Truong, who tragically died, have been dropped because prosecutors couldn’t prove he understood just how seriously wrong his alleged actions were.

Give me a bloody spell.

We’ve already got these little f**k nuggets laughing in the faces of police with the attitude of “I’ll be out on bail before you finish your shift”, and now we’re handing police more bloody hoops to jump through.

I’ve seen harder consequences handed out at primary school for returning a library book late.

At what point did the government become so bloody worried about the consequences for offenders that we forgot about the victims?
