❄️ Winter is skin needling season... and your future self will thank you for it!

Let’s face it, if there was ever a time to hide from the sun and invest in your skin, it’s winter. Cosy jumpers, hot chocolates, and collagen-building? Sounds like the perfect combination. 🤍

Here’s why winter is the ideal time for skin needling:

✨ Less sun exposure means your skin can heal with less risk of UV damage.
✨ It’s the perfect time to treat fine lines, acne scars, pigmentation and uneven skin texture.
✨ Your skin has time to repair, rebuild collagen and reveal results before spring and summer roll around.

The thing about collagen is... it doesn’t happen overnight. Your skin needs time to create new collagen, so starting now means you’ll be glowing when the warmer weather arrives.

*Ahem...* hello Spring Racing Carnival 🏇🥂✨

While everyone else is looking for a last-minute glow before events, you’ll already be enjoying smoother, healthier, more radiant skin.

Your best spring skin starts with a winter plan.

📍 Book your skin needling appointment now and let your skin do the hard work while you’re rugged up for winter.

Retinol vs Retinal vs Retin-A... Which one actually wins? 🤔

Vitamin A is considered the gold standard in skincare, but not all Vitamin A products work the same way.

The secret? **Conversion**

Your skin can only use Retinoic Acid.
That means every other form of Vitamin A has to be converted before your skin can benefit from it.

💚 Retinol
Needs **2 conversions** before it becomes active. It’s a great starting point, but because your skin has more work to do, results can take longer and usually found in low doses in over the counter skincare.

💜 Retinal (Retinaldehyde)
Needs **just 1 conversion** to become retinoic acid. That means it works faster than retinol while still being gentle enough for many skin types. It’s why retinal has become one of my favourite forms of Vitamin A.

💙 Retin-A (Tretinoin)
This IS retinoic acid. No conversion needed, making it the most potent option. HOWEVER, with that potency often comes redness, peeling, irritation and a compromised skin barrier - especially if introduced too quickly.

So... does stronger always mean better?

Not necessarily.

The best Vitamin A is the one your skin can tolerate consistently. For many people, **retinal hits the sweet spot** - delivering impressive anti-ageing, acne and pigmentation results without the level of irritation commonly associated with prescription Retin-A.

✨ Faster than retinol.
✨ Gentler than Retin-A.
✨ One step away from active Vitamin A.

No wonder retinal is becoming the skincare world’s worst-kept secret.

A calm little corner where I get to do what I love ✨
Helping people feel more confident in their skin — that’s the part that never gets old 💫

Fine lines can appear deeper and skin can look crepey simply because the skin lacks water — once hydration improves, they often soften quickly.

Think Hyaglide and Hydrating CelluLUx Mask from Skindividual to get your plump on!

Why cleansing once a day (at night) can actually heal an impaired skin barrier ✨

Is your skin is tight, stinging, flaky, or suddenly “reacting to everything”?

Over-cleansing might be the culprit!

Here’s why night-only cleansing helps repair the barrier:

• Your barrier lipids regenerate while you sleep — morning cleansing can strip them before they’ve done their job

• Water + surfactants = barrier disruption (especially first thing in the AM)

• Overnight, skin shifts into repair mode — cleansing at night removes dirt, pollution, SPF, and makeup without unnecessary repeat stripping

• Rinsing with water or skipping cleansing in the morning preserves natural moisturising factors (NMFs)

Who should try this?
✔️ Dry, sensitive, rosacea-prone
✔️ Post-procedure or over-exfoliated skin
✔️ Anyone stuck in the “my skincare burns” phase

Pro tip:
With your night cleanse keep it milky, non-foaming like Skindividual Urban Defense - a creamy cleanser will nourish and calm the skin, as well as protecting the skin from environmental stressors and balancing the skin microbiota.

Healthy skin isn’t about more steps — it’s about smarter ones 🤍

Still not applying and reapplying your SPF daily? What are you doing!? ☀️

Wearing a physical SPF is my #1 skin tip to prevent premature aging and non-negotiable part of my skin care routine.

Have you seen the identical twin study?
In a large twin study led by Dr. Bahman Guyuron, genetically identical twins were compared based on lifestyle habits.
The twins with higher sun exposure and less sunscreen use were consistently judged to look older.

Why? UV radiation breaks down collagen and elastin, leading to wrinkles, loss of firmness and pigmentation — known as photoageing.

The sunscreen-wearing twins looked younger, proving lifestyle matters as much as genetics.

Swipe through to see the unbelievable differences (and no they aren’t before and after photos they are Twin A and Twin B 😱)
