The pursuit of the "baby face" look has taken a literal turn in China, where influencer Wang Jing has turned her own facial features into a blueprint for 500 patients.

Wang Jing, a 30-year-old Douyin star from Zhejiang, spent over 1 million yuan (approximately $140,000) on of procedures to achieve her signature "baby face", including features like large eyes, a rounded forehead, full under-eyes, large forward ears, and a small chin, emphasises an extremely youthful, almost doll-like appearance.

The trend has moved beyond social media documentation and into a unique business model. After gaining nearly a million followers, Wang opened her own aesthetic clinic where clients can reportedly follow the exact facial plans and injection techniques used to create her look. To date, more than 500 people have reportedly undergone procedures to replicate her face.

This "copy-paste" approach to beauty has sparked significant debate regarding the loss of Individuality/ The business of selling one's own face as a product raises questions about ethics.

As a doctor in aesthetic medicine, I believe we should respect our patient's anatomy as all medical treatments come with risks and potential side effects. Trying to give everyone the same face is simply unethical.

This Korean former Kpop trainee was told that her "jawline was too square" for her teacher to be focused on her singing. Over time, it became an insecurity and she had surgery to shave her jaw. While the entertainment industry is known for its rigorous standards, this story serves as a vital reminder for those of us in the medical community.

As medical professionals, we should never implant new insecurities in them. When they ask, "What do you think I can do to look better?", the reply should be "what are your concerns".

As medical doctors in aesthetics , our primary duty is to heal, not to "fix" things that aren't broken. We owe it to our patients to be guardians of their self-esteem. Our role is not to scan a face for "flaws" or suggest corrections for features a patient never previously questioned. To do so is to implant new insecurities under the guise of professional advice.

Adriana Lima has the internet talking again! Her face appears more sculpted and defined in recent photos, and naturally, people are wondering, “What treatment has she had?”

A more defined face doesn’t automatically mean cosmetic treatment. Changes in weight, facial fat distribution, ageing etc.

In Adriana’s case, it could simply be weight loss contributing to the change in facial definition. When facial volume decreases, areas such as the cheeks, jawline and temples can appear more prominent, creating a more sculpted appearance.

As a doctor, I always think it’s important not to assume that every change we see online is the result of a procedure.

Because unless someone has openly shared what they’ve had done, we’re only guessing.

And remember, social media gives us a snapshot, not the full story.

LED light therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses different wavelengths of light to target a range of skin concerns.

Red light may help support skin rejuvenation by promoting the skin’s natural repair processes. It may also help improve the appearance of fine lines, uneven skin tone and inflammation, making it a popular option for those looking to support healthier looking skin.

Blue light is commonly used for acne-prone skin. It may help target acne-causing bacteria and support a reduction in the frequency and severity of breakouts. It is also a gentle treatment option that can be suitable for many people with sensitive or acne-prone skin.

As with any treatment, results can vary from person to person. The right wavelength, treatment frequency and approach will depend on your individual skin concerns.

Matilda Baxter has been in the spotlight recently, with plenty of discussion around her cosmetic procedures, including rib reshaping surgery.

As a doctor working in cosmetic medicine, my message is simple: whatever you choose to do with your body, make sure you are making an informed decision.

Cosmetic procedures, whether surgical or non-surgical, may come with risks, potential complications, long-term considerations and downtime. It’s important to understand not just the immediate result, but also what the procedure could mean for you months or even years down the track.

Ask questions. Understand the risks and benefits. Know what recovery involves. Make sure you understand the alternatives and what happens if you change your mind or don't achieve the result you expected.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to beauty, and there is no obligation to have any procedure.

At the end of the day, it is your body and your choice. My role as a doctor is not to tell you what you should or shouldn’t do, it’s to make sure you have the information you need to make that choice safely and with informed consent.

Aging has always been the same numbers, but it hasn't always looked the same.

Think about celebrities from 20, 30 or even 40 years ago compared with celebrities of the same age today. The difference can be striking.

But why?

It’s not simply about genetics. The way we approach aging has changed dramatically.

Today, people have greater access to skincare, professional skin treatments, fitness, nutrition, styling, grooming and medical cosmetic procedures.

And then there’s Hollywood. For decades, the entertainment industry has placed a strong emphasis on youthful-looking appearances, particularly for actors working on screen. With that pressure, maintaining a youthful appearance can become part of the job.

But perhaps the most important thing to remember is this:

Looking your age is not a problem that needs fixing. Aging is a natural process, and everyone’s face will age differently.

The goal shouldn’t be to erase every line or look like you’re 25 forever. Whether you choose treatments or choose to embrace every change naturally, it should be your choice.
