Ever wondered why your Chinese medicine practitioner takes your pulse? đ
In Chinese medicine, pulse taking is a traditional assessment technique used alongside your health history, symptoms, tongue observation and other clinical information.
Weâre looking at qualities such as the rate, rhythm, depth, strength, width and overall character of the pulse. These observations can contribute to a Chinese medicine pattern assessment and help your practitioner understand your individual presentation.
Itâs not a standalone diagnostic test, and it isnât used to diagnose medical conditions. Instead, it forms one part of the bigger picture when developing an individualised Chinese medicine treatment approach.
Every pulse is different and thatâs part of what makes your treatment individual to you.
