Wrinkles don’t just appear overnight… they’re the result of multiple changes happening beneath the surface.
As we age, our skin naturally goes through changes that affect its structure, strength and ability to bounce back.
The most common causes of wrinkle formation include:
- Collagen & elastin decline: these proteins provide firmness, support and elasticity. As levels decrease, skin becomes thinner and less resilient.
- Repeated facial movements: smiling, frowning, squinting and other expressions create repeated folding of the skin, eventually leading to dynamic lines.
- Loss of hydration: as skin becomes drier, fine lines can appear more noticeable and the skin can lose its healthy glow.
- Changes in facial volume: age-related changes in fat pads, bone structure and soft tissue support can contribute to folds and wrinkles.
- Environmental factors: sun exposure, lifestyle factors and oxidative stress can accelerate visible signs of ageing.
The good news? Understanding why wrinkles form helps us create a more targeted approach to prevention and treatment.
Healthy ageing isn’t about stopping time, it’s about supporting your skin at every stage.
At TK Aesthetics & Skin, we offer personalised consultations to discuss wrinkle formation, your individual skin concerns and treatment options that may help reduce the visible signs of ageing.

Disclaimer: Cosmetic procedures are medical procedures that carry risks and undergoing these procedures is a serious decision. Patients may require time and appropriate after care to recover and be aware that results, recovery and complications will vary for each individual patient and the final outcome is difficult to predict. There may be possible changes to lifestyle including absence from employment or temporary restrictions on activity. A thorough consultation is required prior to treatment to determine if you are a suitable candidate.

That “well-deserved” glass of wine after your treatment? It could be working against your results.
You’ve just invested in your skin, spent time (and money) on your treatment, and now your body is busy doing the work to heal, repair and respond.
But alcohol can make this process harder.
Why? Alcohol increases blood flow and causes blood vessels to dilate, which can contribute to more redness, swelling and bruising. It can also dehydrate your body and increase inflammation, not exactly the environment your skin needs after a treatment.
Whether you’ve had aesthetic treatments, skin needling, peels or collagen-stimulating treatments, your aftercare matters just as much as the treatment itself.
The easiest way to support your results? Skip the alcohol for at least 24 hours post-treatment, stay hydrated and follow your practitioner’s aftercare advice.
Because the treatment doesn’t end when you leave the clinic… that’s when the healing begins.
Save this for your next appointment and share it with your friend who always asks “can I have wine tonight?”

One appointment isn't enough.
If your women's health provider isn't checking in with you after your initial consultation... ask yourself why.
Your hormones don't stay the same.
Your symptoms don't stay the same.
Your body doesn't stay the same.
So why would your treatment plan?
At TK Aesthetics & Skin, we don't believe in a "hi and goodbye" approach.
We believe women's health deserves ongoing care.
That's why regular review appointments are built into our approach.
They allow us to:
- Assess how you're actually feeling, not just how you felt on day one.
- Review whether your treatment plan is still working for your body and your goals.
- Make clinically appropriate adjustments in collaboration with our doctor or nurse practitioner.
- Continue educating and supporting you as your symptoms and health evolve.
Because perimenopause and menopause aren't a single event. They're a transition and transitions require ongoing support, not a one-off appointment.
Our goal isn't to hand you a plan and hope for the best. Our goal is to partner with you, adjust your care as your body changes, and ensure you feel supported every step of the way.
Your body changes. Your care should too.
If you're looking for a personalised, long-term approach to women's health, book a consultation with our team today.

Everyone asks me what I do for my skin… so here’s the honest answer.
Spoiler: it’s not one miracle treatment, one expensive product, or a “secret” ingredient.
As a Registered Nurse working in aesthetics, healthy skin isn’t created from one appointment. It’s created from the small decisions you make consistently.
My non-negotiables?
- SPF. Every. Single. Morning.
- Medical-grade skincare
- Supporting my skin from within.
- Targeted supplementation when needed.
And yes… I have professional skin treatments too.
But I don’t wait until my skin is struggling to start looking after it. I take a preventative approach, choosing treatments that align with my long-term skin goals and support healthy skin as I age.
Consistency beats perfection. Every time.
At TK Aesthetics & Skin, we believe in educating you first, then creating a personalised plan that works with your lifestyle, your journey and your goals.
Not sure where to start? Book a consultation with one of our Registered Nurses and let’s create you a plan.

You’re not “getting old”… your face is simply changing.
And the biggest mistake we see? Thinking ageing starts when you notice your first wrinkle.
The changes that influence how your face ages begin beneath the skin, often years before you see visible lines or volume changes.
Your face is made up of multiple layers working together:
- Bone
- Ligaments
- Fat pads
- Muscles
- Skin
As we move through our 20s and 30s, these structures naturally begin to evolve.
At TK Aesthetics & Skin, we don’t believe in chasing ageing, we believe in understanding it. Whether you’re in your 20s, 30s, or beyond, education is the first step in creating a personalised approach to healthy, positive ageing.
Save this post for when you need a reminder that ageing is a process, not a problem.

You can invest in the best skin treatments… but if you're not supporting your body from within, you're only seeing part of the picture.
At TK Aesthetics & Skin, we believe in playing the long game.
Here's why.
As women, our hormones naturally change throughout life. By menopause, declining oestrogen levels contribute to an estimated 30% loss of skin collagen within the first five years, with collagen continuing to decline by around 2% each year thereafter.
That's why lasting results aren't built from treatments alone.
Your skin, energy, recovery, muscle health and overall wellbeing are all influenced by what's happening beneath the surface.
At TK Aesthetics & Skin, our Women’s Health and menopause consultations are
designed to explore your goals in a safe, personalised way, with ongoing clinical guidance tailored to you.
We're here to help you support your body in all stages of life. That's what playing the long game looks like.

You spend thousands on your skin… but what about what you're feeding it from within?
Healthy skin, energy, recovery, hormones and overall wellbeing don't start with treatments alone. Sometimes the missing piece is supporting your body from the inside out.
At TK Aesthetics & Skin, we've expanded our approach to care by introducing Orthoplex, a practitioner-recommended supplementation to support women through every stage of life.
Whether you're looking to support:
- Energy levels
- Muscle recovery and strength
- Healthy hair, skin and nails
- Bone health
- Stress and relaxation
- Immune health
- Hormonal wellbeing
- General wellness
..we can help guide you towards supplements that are appropriate for your individual goals and lifestyle.
Because great results aren't just about the treatments, they're about taking a holistic approach to your health.
If you've ever wondered whether supplementation could support your health goals, send us a DM with "SUPPLEMENTATION" or chat with your Registered Nurse at your next appointment.

If you're reading this without SPF on... consider this your reminder.
I don't care how many skin treatments you have booked, how much collagen stimulation you're doing or how many products are in your bathroom...
If you're not wearing SPF every single day (yes... even in winter ), you're making your skin work so much harder than it needs to.
Prevention will always outperform correction.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love what skincare and treatments can do.
Hydration treatments.
Collagen stimulation.
Medical-grade skincare.
They're incredible.
But they're designed to support healthy skin, not undo years of UV damage while you're still skipping SPF because "it's cloudy today."
This holiday was the perfect reminder that feeling confident enough to throw my hair up and walk out the door with fresh, healthy skin, has always been the goal.
If you've started noticing:
- Fine lines appearing faster than you'd expect
- Dehydrated, dull-looking skin
- Crepey texture
Your skin might be asking for more than just another moisturiser.

Stop chasing intensity. Start committing to consistency.
We live in a world that celebrates the quick fix.
The strict diet.
The 6-week challenge.
The detox.
The "life-changing" supplement.
But when it comes to your health, intensity doesn't create lasting results, consistency does.
At TK Aesthetics & Skin, we're known for our aesthetic and skin treatments and now, we're taking that one step further with our Women's Health Consultations, because lasting wellbeing starts by understanding what's happening beneath the surface.
Whether you're navigating fatigue, brain fog, weight changes, poor sleep, hormonal shifts or simply feeling "not quite yourself," your body is trying to tell you something.
Our role isn't to hand you another quick fix.
It's to understand the bigger picture, identify the underlying cause of your symptoms and create a personalised plan that's realistic, evidence-based and sustainable.
For some women, that may be lifestyle changes and practitioner-only supplementation. For others, it may include further investigation or medical treatment where clinically appropriate.
If you're ready to stop guessing and start understanding your health, we'd love to support you.
