Calma Studio
This is a quiet invitation to pause.
In a world that asks us to keep going, we offer personalised massage in a calm, grounding space where you can stop — just for a moment — and reconnect.

Need a tissue? A sip of water? A quick bathroom break? Just say the word.
There’s no perfect treatment flow you’re going to ruin. We pause, make you comfortable, then carry on. Easy.

Massage can be helpful, but it isn’t always the right next step.
If pain is new, unexplained or rapidly worsening—or there are signs that something may need medical assessment—the safest choice may be to pause and refer you to your GP or a Physiotherapist.
A suspected blood clot, acute injury, active infection, burn or certain medical conditions may mean treatment needs to be postponed or medically cleared first.
Sometimes it isn’t a complete “no”. We may simply need to avoid one area, adjust the treatment or wait until the GP says it's safe to continue.
Knowing when not to massage is part of providing good care. I would always rather be cautious than treat something that needs a different kind of attention.
Safe to say, this birthday weekend understood the assignment. 🤍
A trip to the Beauty Expo in Sydney ✔️
A facial, because obviously self-care was on the itinerary ✔️
A wander through Sydney Aquarium feeling approximately 5 years old again ✔️
A very French moment at Manon Brasserie 🥐☕ ✔️
…and I may have signed myself up for an epic new course. 👀
Because apparently my idea of a birthday present to myself is… more education.
But honestly, I couldn’t be more excited.
There’s something really special about stepping into another year feeling inspired, curious and ready to keep growing — personally, professionally and everything in between.
A beautiful weekend filled with experiences, a "little" indulgence, lots of laughs and a big dose of inspiration.

Falling asleep is fine. Snoring is fine. And yes, bodies occasionally make other noises too.
There’s no need to apologise or lie awake trying to stay composed. You have a nervous system and a digestive system. Things happen.

Firm pressure can be useful, but it isn’t the goal of a treatment—and pain isn’t a reliable measure of whether massage is working.
Pressure needs to suit the area being treated, the reason you’ve come in, your health and how your symptoms respond. More force may help in some situations. In others, it may simply leave you sore or aggravate what is already sensitive.
If the body starts bracing, tensing or you're holding your breath, more pressure can become less helpful. Good treatment is about finding the pressure your body responds well to that day.
That might be firm, gentle or somewhere in between.

GIFT VOUCHERS
Someone popped in today and asked if Calma Studio offers gift vouchers — and yes, I do! 🤍
You don’t need to choose between relaxation, remedial or pregnancy massage when purchasing one. You can simply select an amount, such as $50, or gift a full session, like a 60-minute massage.
The recipient can then choose what suits them best when they book.

Pressure isn’t something you have to tolerate to get a “good” massage.
What feels right can change from one area to the next — or halfway through the treatment. Tell me when you want more, less or something different. I’ll adjust.

Pain doesn’t always point neatly to its source.
Sometimes discomfort is felt in a different area because several parts of the body share pathways through the nervous system. The brain receives the message, but it may not identify the starting point perfectly. This is called referred pain.
It’s why tension or irritation around the neck can sometimes be felt as a headache, or why discomfort may be noticed around the shoulder even when the shoulder itself isn’t the whole story.
That doesn’t mean the pain isn’t real. It simply means the place that hurts may be only one part of the picture.
This is why I won’t always spend an entire treatment chasing the sorest spot. I’ll ask what you’ve been feeling, what aggravates it and how you’re moving before deciding where massage may be most useful.

We’ve decided to keep the $20 off new client appointments going a little longer.
So, if you’ve been quietly thinking about booking a massage, consider this your not-so-subtle nudge.
Already a Calma client? Feel free to dob in a friend, partner, sister, mum, workmate—or anyone who keeps saying they really need to book a massage.
New clients can take $20 off their first appointment for a limited time. Book online, or send this post to someone who needs the hint.
