The Margaret River Region on Wadandi Boodja is located 3 hours south of Perth, Western Australia.
The Margaret River Region is an enticing mosaic of pristine natural wonders, premium wineries, relaxed microbreweries, world-class restaurants, spectacular beaches, towering forests, inspirational artisans, warm and friendly locals, and a laid-back persona all of its own. From the tranquil waters of Geographe Bay in the north, down the ancient cave-carved Leeuwin-Naturaliste Ridge, through picturesque vineyards and karri forest of the heartland, to the desolate beauty of Cape Leeuwin in the south, this is a place of astounding natural contrasts. You’ll need at least a few days to explore the region; follow our page to understand why! The Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association honours the traditional owners of this land, the Wadandi (Saltwater) people, and their elders past, present and emerging. We acknowledge the Wadandi people’s 60,000-year custodianship of this special place, and we thank them for generously sharing with us their immensely deep cultural knowledge and connection to the land. Beach walks, stunning gardens and a heritage stay in Yallingup? 😍
Caves House Apartments offers modern, self-contained apartments nestled within the grounds of the much-loved heritage property, Caves House Hotel , which has been welcoming guests since 1903.
There’s a range of apartment configurations to choose from, including one- and two-bedroom options, all with outdoor areas overlooking the gardens, as well as accessible layouts. The hotel’s expansive 4.5 hectares of gardens are an experience in themselves, too. And when it’s time to refuel, you can pop over to Caves House for a drink or a bite to eat.
Plus, a 10-minute stroll down the Ghost Trail takes you straight to Yallingup Beach, Yallingup Lagoon and Rabbit Hill, a favourite coastal spot for swimming, surfing and soaking up those ocean views. 🏖️

How’s this for a great family day out in the Margaret River Region 🙌
Start with a short and sweet guided tour of Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse. It’s an easy climb for all ages, just 59 steps to the top, and 30 minutes is perfect for the kids. The tower sits more than 100 metres above sea level, so the views across Geographe Bay are amazing. There’s plenty of room for the kids to run around, and the museum is full of interactive bits to keep them busy while they learn.
Then it’s a 10-minute drive to lunch at eaglebaybrewingco, which is set on a working farm looking out over the cape. Cold b**rs brewed on site for the grown-ups, seriously good food, and a pirate ship playground for the kids.
Finish at Meelup Beach, just a short drive down the road that is generally sheltered, shady and shallow, and about as good as a family swim spot gets. It’s a patrolled beach over summer, but always check conditions with Surf Life Saving WA before heading out. 🏖️
