I’m a Mandurah local mum to two beautiful girls, and this year life has taken an unexpected turn as one of my daughters has been navigating a difficult health journey.

We used 150g of premium hair in a custom blend of 3 different shades, carefully chosen to complement her natural colour and create a seamless, dimensional result.

Although we added a little extra length, the main goal was to give her hair that fuller, thicker, more luxurious feel — and I think the difference speaks for itself! 😍

My favourite transformations are often the ones that don’t necessarily look like you’re wearing extensions… just like you naturally have thick, beautiful, healthy-looking hair. ✨

A little update from me ❤️

I’ve been very open about Amelie’s journey over the past 6 months, but I think it’s time I shared a little bit about what has been happening with me too.

Honestly, I’ve been struggling.

The stress, constant anxiety and living in a state of fight or flight for the past 6 months has finally caught up with me. My body and mind have reached a point where I simply haven’t been coping.

I’ve been struggling terribly with insomnia, to the point where my body has felt like it won’t even allow me to properly fall into a deep sleep without waking me. I’m exhausted, overwhelmed and, if I’m completely honest, I feel like a shadow of the person I used to be.

I’ve spent so long being strong for everyone else, getting through appointments, hospital visits, worrying about Amelie and trying to keep everything else in life moving that I think I forgot that I’m human too.

I know I’ve already had to take a step back from work while navigating everything with Amelie, but I need to take another step back now — this time to look after myself.

I’m not well right now. And saying that out loud is really hard for me.

But I also know that I will be okay again. ❤️

A complete breakdown after months of overwhelming stress doesn’t happen overnight, and unfortunately, neither does recovery. I need to give myself the time, rest and care that I’ve been putting off for so long.

So please bear with me while I try to get myself better. There may be times where I’m slower to respond, need to move appointments around, or simply need to say no when my body is telling me I need to rest.

To every single client who has shown me patience, understanding and kindness throughout this incredibly difficult year — thank you. More than you will ever know.

I’m still here. I’m just taking some time to find my way back to myself. 🤍

And I promise, I’ll get there.

Amelie's school is doing R U OK day today and it has me reflecting. After the year our family has had, I understand more than ever just how important it is to check in on the people we love and make sure they’re truly okay.

Sometimes “I’m fine” doesn’t actually mean we’re fine.

I know how hard it can be to talk about our mental health, to admit when we’re struggling, or even to open up to the people closest to us. Sometimes we don’t know how to put what we’re feeling into words, and sometimes we’re scared of being a burden.

So today, I just want to remind every single one of my beautiful clients that I’m always here. 💛

Your appointments are so much more than hair and makeup to me. I hope my little studio can always feel like a safe space — a place where you can talk, laugh, cry, vent, unload, or simply sit quietly if that’s what you need.

You never have to apologise for having a hard day. You never have to pretend everything is perfect.

Just a little Amelie update because I know so many of you are following along on my girls journey and I appreciate you all so much! 💗

Yesterday’s colonoscopy and endoscopy went off without a hitch, which was such a relief.

Poor Amelie and I have both been left with so much trauma from the preparation for this procedure, but she was SO incredibly strong through it all. I honestly can’t put into words how proud I am of my girl. 🥹❤️

Amelie has a lot of anxiety going into theatre, which is completely understandable after everything she has been through. Getting her off to sleep and getting the mask on her has become increasingly difficult, and having to hold her down while she fights it absolutely destroys me every single time. 😭💔

Yesterday was particularly hard because she had a really difficult time waking up from the anaesthetic. Her heart rate was sitting quite low, so they weren’t comfortable getting her out of PACU until she was more awake and her heart rate picked back up above 65. It took quite some time, and I was so scared watching her. But, like she always does, my brave girl eventually got there. ❤️

We were able to see her doctors afterwards and they said her scopes looked normal — which is actually incredible news. 🙏🏼

This makes it much less likely that the tummy issues are from LCH or anything else nasty, although we still need to wait for the biopsy results to know for sure. So for now, we are cautiously taking that as a really positive sign. 🤞🏼

Thankfully, she is recovering really well now. She’s eating and drinking normally again and is just feeling a little off today, which is completely understandable after everything her little body has been through. 💗

We are just so grateful that yesterday went as smoothly as it could have and that, for the first time in a while, we have something positive to hold onto while we wait for those biopsy results. 🙏🏼

One step at a time, my brave girl. You continue to amaze me every single day. ❤️‍🩹

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to every single one of my beautiful clients.

The last few months have been incredibly difficult for our family, and I’ve had to take a lot more time away from work than I ever expected while we navigate everything with Amelie.

During such an uncertain time, every single booking, referral and returning client has meant more to me than I could ever put into words. 🙏🏼

Your patience when I’ve needed to move appointments, your understanding when life has gotten in the way, the beautiful messages checking in on us, and every person who has recommended my business to a friend or family member… I see it all, and I am so incredibly grateful. 🤍

My appointments feel different now. They mean so much more than simply coming to work. They’ve been a little bit of normality for me during an incredibly difficult chapter, and they’ve helped me continue to support my little family while being there for my girl when she needs me most.
